How tight do you like your nocks to fit your string?

I've been having a few tuning troubles with my Horne, after fitting the new riser & string. I don't know why, but I only just remembered that my last set of arrows, I sanded the nocks out until they would hardly hold on the string. If you held the bow with the arrow vertically down, they'd fall straight off. I just re-did all my nocks & the bow's shooting as sweet, fast, accurate & quiet as ever.

Do you think that this is purely a personal preference thing (to both me & the bow) or does anyone else take their nocks right out like this? Or do you prefer them to be a nice, tight fit?

I like mine just snug enuf that they don't fall off.

a number of times I have seen/read, including in Masters of the Bare Bow, and here on TG (some past posts I  started), they should be tight enough that it only taskes a slight tap on the string to drop them if you point the bow down.  I have slowly been switching all my factory Heritage nocks to Super 3-d's, perhaps and notice a shooting improvement and a reduction in noise.

I like mine the way BobW stated. Too loose can lead to a dry-fire, too tight hurts accuracy and increases noise.

I just got a pack of 3D nocks.  As less and less swagged ended arrows are available, they seem to be the answer.  I like to switch back and forth between wood and aluminum so I need a nock that wears the same as a classic nock.

I like mine very loose, if they just hang on the string that's ok, but it should only take the slightest tap to make them fall off.

Nocks should be just barely tight enough to keep the arrow from falling off the string. I would reccomend not sanding your nocks to fit. It is difficult to sand all the nocks the same. Changing the serving to a smaller diameter will keep things more uniform.
