thinking about getting some Day One camo. my question is are the pant's size correct or do they tend to run larger or smaller. Is a size 38 waist really a 38 or is it size 36 or 40

Not sure on pants, but my bibs were ordered with my normal waist size and they are cut to accomodate underneath layers.  This may be due to my suit being a cold weather suit.

Awesome stuff!

Doug,

I wear a 34 in wranglers and have day one's in 34 but could probably get away with a 32 most of the time.

the only experience i had is the pants with the wind flap that comes up towards your belly...i bought them used in excellent condition...they were supposed to be 36 waist ..fit more like a 34 to 35 waist.... also if you're starting to establish a mid life gut like myself...that flap isnt the most comfortable...... great camo , quality clothing... hope this helps.

If you're going to order from Day One, expect delays and flaws, as well as exaggerated delivery dates. I have a bunch of camo from Gary, and eventually I got what I wanted in every case, but in almost every case I had  to return the original item for what I really wanted (marked wrong size, sent insulated when I only wanted wind barier, sent jacket without backtag holder (twice), sent vest with stitching not completed, and never paid be back for return shipping as promised). The end product is nice, but Gary really needs to hire a business Manager and quality control consultant.

I agree with BD. I ordered wool pants and vest about a month ago and have not recieved them yet. So far not good custemer service.

I have never had a problem with delivery from Day One.

I have at least 7 jackets[diff. weights-patterns] and never had any delays or mixups.Gary is a great guy to work with and will order a snow camo outfit as soon as he starts making one[not all white] hint! hint!

Gary has always been prompt and effiecient with any orders or returns that I have made from him also. I think I have ordered four or five different times from him.

I bought a used fleece pullover from the classifieds last fall.  I liked it so well, I had my wife order me some fleece ASAT pants and an ASAT cotton tee-shirt.  It does take some time to arrive.  He makes the stuff to order and has very little stock on hand.  I did order light fleece which when it arrived asn't really what I had in mind, so Gary traded me for regular fleece plus cost difference.  When I was in Denver a couple of months back I ran into Gary at Keith Chastain's bow-making shop.  I wound up visiting the Day One "factory" and shop the next day.  Gary spends much of the winter at hunting shows selling his wares.  I think the lead time is extra long during the winter because of that.  While I was there I bought a few more pieces he had in stock.  I looked at the wool ASAT and plan to order a set of that to use this fall on a sheep hunt--if I draw the tag.  The waist size on my fleece pants runs about an inch bigger than my Carhart jeans.  The shirts and jackets seem to run fairly true to size in the fleece and wool.  I've had no problems with quality.  It just takes some time to receive the order, so order early.

I love his stuff but I tend to order 2 sizes larger in shirts and jackets...I also like them bigger too...Doc
