Well I made my first trad kill ever tonight with a brackenbury recurve I bought online. I have only been shooting trad for about four months, so I am still a rookie. Anyways, about the hunt. I was out stump shooting with my chocolate lab when I spotted a groundhog about three hundred yards away, so I figured what the heck, and raised up and shot...just kidding. Okay, back to the hunt, Me and my lab started the stalk, which we made through the woods that ran parallel to the field that the hog was in. I popped out when I knew I was close and he was suprised to see that he was still there. So we just started  sneaking up on him. I got about 15 yards and the groundhog saw me and took of from left to right towards the woods. I made a running shot at 15 yards, he stopped rolled a few times and took off again. Again at 15 yards I made another running shot, but he wasnt moving to good. By this time my dog is wanting a piece of  this groundhog, so I had to finish the job quickly with an arrow to the head to put him down for the count. I took a pic with my cell, but it isnt pretty, so I wont post it. Anyways, I was pumped to get my first trad kill ever.

Good job    :notworthy:
They're a tougher critter to take with a bow than many people think.

I was so pumped, I forgot to get a good picture. I just snapped a quick pic and then got it outa there before my dog tried to eat it. In the pic, it looks like a porcupine. Needless to say, all it took to get me totally into the trad thing was one groundhog.

One neat thing that I was thinking about, I never would have gotten this groundhog with a compound because I never could have made the moving shot. And looking back at it, I dont even remember shooting, I just drew to  my anchor and fired and everything felt smooth and natural. I was pretty pumped afterwards.
