During a tuning session, I found that I need to build out the strikeplate on one of my bows to about .35" to get good arrow flight. Never had to build out that far but the layers of velcro don't look all that hot and I'm looking for strikeplate options. .35" is a good bit to build out. Any opinions?

Is there a reason you are tunning your bow to the arrow instead of choosing a different arrow?
You could stick some leather underneath then use some barge cement to seal the velcro down over it.  Just build out a tiny contact point a little wider than a toothpick.

The arrows are spined correctly but the bow seems to be a bit too centershot. When I build it out, I get good arrow flight and a quiet bow.

I was thinkin along the lines of one of those feather rests as a strikeplate and shave it down as needed. Anyone try this idea?

JL, what about a small section of toothpick vertically under the velcro? or a triangular stack of them glued together?

.35" is a pretty good distance. A GT 35/55 arrow is .30" diamiter. Toothpick's would have to be stacked and might be a bit unsightly also. Trying to keep the strikeplate looking clean while bumping the arrow out.

Cut a 1" section of 1/2" inch dowel in half then glue a leather strike plate over it.

I haven't tried this but wonder how a piece of rubber fuel line, sectioned like David mentioned, would work...

I'm with Bear Heart on this one; I'd at least try a stiffer shaft.

A match stick works well, Tim Mullins puts them under all his center shot Acadian Woods.

Vermonster, thats kinda the way I was going. JL, I don't think we are picturing it the same. You would not see the toothpicks. Vermonster had it better with the dowel thing.....same idea...just better.

Follow his idea, it doesn't look as bad as you may think. Besides, doesn't everybody know we can't afford extra arrows here in Maryland?

I hear ya. Some pretty good ideas and I'll give em a try. I have a boatload of arrows all spined for a 50 pound bow and they all shoot equally well out of all of my other bows. This particular bow is a 47#er and bumping the strike plate out was the key to getting them to fly straight also. I like things as simple as I can get it and shooting the same arrows out of all my bows suits me just fine. Thanks for the ideas!
