I'm just getting over the darned flu and things are a little slow...you know, cabin fever from staying in bed most of the time so I thought I'd post a few pics.  Here goes, McCullough 59er

Nice McCullough 59er, what are the woods used ?
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike. Curly maple riser with the window ebony. Koa limbs. It's a take-down.
  Thunderbird is a yew riser & limbs.

Is the  59er a bevel-lok or bow-bolt? Both are beauties. I have a Thunderbird myself. Awesome bow.

myshootinstinks

I guess it would be the bow-bolt. Works sort of like a bayonet mount.  I've never owned a 2-pc td and I'm amazed at the precision John achieves.

Precurve

Are those two bows about the same draw weight?  How do they compare in shooting qualities?

Dave

Dave, they're very recent acquisitions and I can't offer a fair analysis. The 59er is 48@28 and the T-bird is 55@28.  I'll let you know in a few days.  I've shot the T-bird some and I will say it seems pretty quick and hits where look.

Dave and all,
I just had my first serious outing w/ the 59er, about 40 arrows. I'm still a little weak from the flu but the session went well.  Very smooth and quiet, good speed. Excellent cast, all good so far. The limbs are ALL koa, not just veneers so John may have something there.
  I was regularly smacking the kill zone of the deer target at my 28yd back yard range, which is about as good as I ever do.

Doug/Bjorn;

I have a T-Bird also and really love that bow.  Hard to believe that's what Glenn and the boys were shooting back in 1953.  Exceptionally quiet and quick.  Very interested Doug to see your comparison to the 59er.

Jim Harris

I sure like the looks of that '59er! Very nice.
