I used Extra Time Loctite Epoxy to coat a red Elm riser to help fit pit in the wood, but the epoxy has not cured after 3 days. The instruction state to allow to cure for 24 hrs before sanding, except in cooler temps. It was in my garage so after 24 hours I put a spot light on it over night. Still not cured, so I put in my bow oven for 4 hours and epoxy is still tacky and when touched I can see finger prints. Can anyone help me on this?

If it were me I'd mix up a batch and see if it cures  -- not on the riser.  It could be improper mix or ratio of epoxy, or old epoxy, so I'd be interested to see if it cures not on the riser. Maybe by a new tube of epoxy to test along side of it.

Elm isn't all that oily of a wood (compared to some) but it might be possible it's the wood.

Getting it off the riser to try again...that might be tricky.  Acetone or sanding, probably more of the latter.

If it is still tacky, an acetone soaked rag will usually remove it.

Don't let the acetone stay on the riser too long, as it may attack the glue lines and weaken the riser itself.

Wear gloves, too. Acetone likes to disolve stuff... so don't let it disolve your stuff!

Gail here, Buddy remove the stuff and if it is wood to wood fit, then use URAC-185 or Smooth-ON, I stay away from all the other stuff out there. Need any help give me a call. You got my Phone number. Good Luck....ONE SHOT...          

Thanks guys,I was able to remove it by sanding and sanding and sanding. Then I recoated with 5 epoxy sand and repeated 3 times to fill the voids. I just put my last of 5 coat of spar urethane on the bow. It looks really good if I say so myself. I am really pleased, this being my first bow. I will post pictures this weekend.
I hope to be using it tuesday morning to stick a big old long beard.
