I was looking through the sponsors sites, and saw Conqueror Campers. Wow! This seems like the perfect, perfect thing for those of us who like to get way back, then walk out.

Have any of you ever used one, and what can you tell me about them?

I have a buddy who has a Jumping Jack trailer. I have never stayed in it but have played with it in the driveway. It's light and has lots of storage. It is pretty neat, sets up really fast.

I think he got his at Sportsman's Warehouse.

Russ, I've used Terry's and if I could afford one, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Awesome piece of gear...well built, well thought out great design. You can tell the guys that built it used one a LOT and worked out all the kinks before bringing it to the market.

He was offering a super deal to Trad Gangers a while back......Yes, they are the bomb!

Terry, could you expand a little on why you like them so much?

Terry, can you help me out with info? I'm looking at the base camp. What can you think of that I will still need once I buy it? Does it pretty much come with everything you needed, or did you still have to add stuff to it?

Is it as rugged as it looks? Any idea how much it weighs?

Service for 6 includes melamine platters, bowls, mugs and kitchen utensils; glasses, full set of cutlery and steak knives. Individual compartments for all items in kitchen unit.

Set of 3 nested heavy-duty stainless steel cooking pots.

Refrigerator Mounting

Sliding rail system for refrigerator cooler mounted inside on the floor of the trailer and accessible through the rear tailgate.

Propane Stove

Two burner propane stove.  

Power Pack

Industrial Intelligent Power Pack installed in saddle box. 20 amps, 13.8 volts. 5 circuit breakers and GFI. 110 volts AC adaptor coverts 110 volts to 12 volts to power fridge, lights, outlets or charge the battery. Meter shows the battery storage level. A heavy duty, 65 foot, extension cord to connect trailer to a 110 volt outlet or to a portable generator.

Battery Charging System

Connects towing vehicle to trailer and Power Pack. Uses standard 7-way blade RV connector. Functions are: turn signals, brake lights, running lights, and positive and negative power. Also used to charge battery from the towing vehicle.

Lighting Package

Two Hella halogen spotlights; 1 mounted on front and 1 on rear of roof rack. 2 fluorescent lamps; 1 mounted inside the trailer, the other has 10 foot cord. 3 Hella Plugs; 1 on front and 1 on rear of trailer lid, 1 inside trailer.

Water Tanks

Two 20 gallon Polyethylene tanks for water mounted underneath trailer with risers and bottom mounted taps.

Shower Hose & Water Pump

15 foot hose with water pump to insert in water tank, and quick disconnect fitting on other end for shower head or spray nozzle.

Propane Tank Holders

Two holders for mounting 10 Lb Propane Tanks to side of Trailer

Jerry Cans

Two 20 liter metal Jerry cans for water or gas. Military green  

Jerry Can Holders

Two holders for mounting Jerry Cans on side of trailer.

Metal, 2.5 x 6 feet, and mounting for under roof rack  

Battery

RV battery, 107 amp hr, mounted inside battery box in nose cone of trailer  

Nose Wheel
Anti tilt leg and removable Jockey wheel, struts to assist in opening and closing lid. Wheel arch rubbers.

BTW, nothing against that Jumping Jack trailer, but it looks like a tinker toy compared to the Conqueror.

I'm sure Terry will fill you in further, but having spent some time in his "tent-mahall", here's my take.

1) Quality built: you can tell the unit was built for South African military. Every hinge, every latch, gas strut, everything I could see is very high quality. The welds on metal are clean and precise, everything fits tight and meets correctly, no squeaks or rattles, the drawers/doors move very smoothly. Top rack and axles etc. built to carry much more weight than the camper itself...you can haul a lot of gear in addtion to the camper itself. Materials are top notch all the way around.

2) Design: somebody spent a lot of time in the middle of no where designing this. Ever had something that you said "If I had designed this/after using this, I would change...."? Well, I doubt you'll say this with the Conqueror. Everything has a secure place, multifunction format, plenty of storage, efficient use of space etc.

I'm picky as all get out about anything I buy. If it don't work, it don't stay. I like to buy the best, once I find it, if I can afford it. Right now, I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat if I had the price of admission.

Russ, if I was outiffiting for serious use, I'd add my hunting stuff, a good first aid kit, personal (clothes etc.) and sleeping gear (mattress/bags), a propane Coleman cookstove and lantern (to use with propane bottles), a propane hot shower setup, charcoal, a grill basket, a few coolers here and there, maybe a solar battery charger and extra battery....you could live comfortably in relative luxury for quite some time, imho.

JC, thanks brother, that's exactly what I needed. I would have called them up, but that's kinda hard to do from FOB Anaconda, Iraq. It would have cost a fortune.

It sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, and I appreciate your help. The extra gear list is most helpful too.

I have been thinking about looking into getting one of these myself. Looks like I could save quite a bit of change by buying one of these instead of an RV. Plus I may not have to buy a new truck to haul it!

Chris, you can sleep two men and gear in the top tent, two more and gear in the bottom vistibule. If you are wife and kids it would be even more roomy.
