Roy aint crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's just eclectic, or excentric or something like that!

Besides he probably can't remember have as much bow stuff as any two other folks think they knows.  :smileystooges:

Got your back good buddy  :p    :D

Today I finished my hot box, just need to add a thermo break when it comes in from the mail along with my hose and clamp. Next is to build a swing jig and we are ready to rock!!!

Worked on this repair bow... 58 nock to nock and right now 50# @ 26 inches... Looking for that poundage at 28 inch draw. Think it needs just a tad more on the outer third of the limbs and then we will be golden?

This is the shortest and only third bow to get to this tiller point!!!!

Zach, (the high school senior that I am mentoring) came over at 4 pm we prepped my longbow form, cleaned up the build bench from Sunday nights glue up(my bow), did a dry run, had to make an adjustment on the riser... and glued up his longbow..it's been cooking a couple of hours, I have a nice timer on the oven and it should shut oven off at mid nite. He will grind the smooth on squeeze out Thursday afternoon then shape the limbs..We hope to be done with both of our bows before next weekend..

Cut some Boo... It matches up with the profiles I have purchased, so maybe it will work after I get it dry?

You guys are building some good looking ovens! I built mine using the Binghams design..But I added a couple of 2x4's on the bottom and put  castor wheels under it..so it rolls under my build bench when not in use.

Decided to redeem myself by following 4est Trekker's build-along on the board bow. Went out the other day to lowes and found a very straight grained red oak 1x4x6. They didn't have any decent 1x4x2s for the riser, so I'm going to stop by home depot on the way to class tonight and check what they have in inventory, if not I'll stop by another lowes which is along the way.

So far i've cut the rough profile of the bow out with a skill saw (circular saw), my skills with the skill saw aren't too keen so I made sure to leave about 1/4" of wood to my line, i'll clean it up to the line later with my drawknife, surform, and rasps. Just waitin' on the riser, don't think i'm going to add the reflex tips yet as this is only my 2nd attempt at a bow. I just want to take it easy and be sure I can make a workable bow without any mess ups.

I sure hope I can redeem myself from my broken Osage self-bow. I'm surely going to get me a 1x1x2 to make Erick's tillering gizmo, since I don't have much experience with proper tillering.

Another side project I'm going to work on is making myself a flemish board out of a 2x4, and a tillering stick. Bought a 1x4x6 pine board with good straight grain and made the tillering stick with 1" groves all the way out to 32" (which is more than necessary).

So I'm coming along as a young bowyer!        :campfire:

Bux, you should give it at least a month maybe more. If you punch out the webbing at the nodes you will get better air circulation. A piece of rebar works well for this.  Some folks split the culms in half and let them dry that way. Placing them in the sun will give them the nice tan coloration.

Thanks for the tips. I hope I can make good use of it. I found a bunch in several locations, but this stash should last me a while.
