Roy from Pa

Had a wonderful day here. After only two hours sleep last night from a painfull tooth, went to the dentist to learn the tooth was abscessed, got me a root canal, Oh Joy..

I didn't have as much fun as Roy, but I did glue an old silk tie onto a red oak board along with a riser of oak, too. Testing out the old silk backing with TB3. Will be tillering that and another bow this week.
I learned "Semper Fi" as a Marine, and have lived it every day since.

Lol Roy. I feel for ya man.

I sanded on some hickory to take it from 1/4 down to an eighth for backing. Note to self: build drum sander so I don't have to do that by hand anymore.

I had even less fun. Played hookey from work so I could go apply for a better job.
Then I went out to the garage and cut my 2 risers in half so I can glue in an offset I beam for both of them.
Hope you're feeling better Roy.   :)

Man Roy.  That suckes.  HOpe you got some whiskey around.  I"m heading out tonight to rasp a little I think.

Id bet them arms are sore Scott!  Did you at least cut it to profile first or just sand it all?

Roy, the only good thing about a root canal is the drugs you get for the pain LOL....Dan

Roy from Pa

Oh Ya.. They gave me horse pill size too..

Yee-------------Haw

Down side is, no alcohol:(

Dan Landis

Cut three loads of wood today, managed to salvage 2 decent mulberry staves and cut a 6 foot limb from a yew that was growing close by, it's about 3" in diameter with fairly tight rings.  Any suggestions on how to dry it properly, never touched a piece of yew before.....Dan

DVSHUNTER

Probably best to trade me for some osage. Yew won't dry right where you live.   :readit:    :goldtooth:

...and the Burberry.

DVS, you probably wouldn't want it if you see it, I'll post a pic tomorrow.  I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to at least give it a try.  This one happened to be on one of the rental properties I manage that was left grow wild....Dan

psychmonky

Dave yes I cut it out first. Left it a bit big just to give my amateur hands room to mess up lol. I should have it glued up and ready to start working for the 25th.  :)

Roy my condolences..I dont think I will ever get another root canal.  Just have em pull that bugger.  I got some ipe slats cut to 9/16 thick by 1 and a half wide.  Hoping to get some things going this weekend...I have three so I can screw up THREE times before I have to give up.
I humbly follow in the learned footsteps of those who precede me.

I'm planning on rasping on my trade bow today.  I also have to rip down some Jatoba for hbj's Maybe one as a backup plan cuz ya never know.

The coastal maple and the sycamore I would use for thin veneers, not super stout bow wood....
