Well boys, here I am.  I am new at this so here we go.  Jan. 22nd, 2008, my house was gutted by fire.  Everyone is ok but we lost all personal belongings; they can be replaced.  But I lost five bows two of which carried a lot of memories.  So, I have ordered the bow from Dryad bows that I mentioned earlier.  Now I am looking at a back-up bow.  I am looking at bows from Kota, Striker, Yellowstone, Lewishollow and Stotler.  I am leaning towards Stotler.  Hard to make my mind up!  Can anyone help?!?!?!
I have had a few customs but this is my first time ordering online, too many choices!  I have been depressed all day due to the fact I do not have a bow right now and the waiting period is long.  I just can't commit to a used bow, just a goof I guess!
Anyway, just had to get it out, wife is sick of hearing about it!  (Wife is typing this)!!

I hope everyone has a good evening and I will be talking at cha soon!  Pat

Sorry to hear about your families loss,If nobody w/ a long bow steps up, I have some Bears, I could send you a loaner, but my recurves are used (not as much as I would like though)

First Thanks to the Almighty you and family are fine. I cannot imagine what it must feel like to go thru what you and your family have.

That being said, Patrick my lad, this being  is St Patty's Day I recommend the following.
You said you did loose five bows.
That you ordered one and you listed 5 others. Only right you get the additonal five for a total of 6 to make up for the 5 lost plus 1 for good luck.    :thumbsup:
I'm sure that your all loving and all adoring wife who typed this must be a fabulous wife at that would completely understand how to make her loving husband happy in mind and spirit.    :)

Hate to hear about the fire, a blessing that no one was hurt. May have to get a used bow just to make it thru the withdrawls.

boys your all good guys and feeling my pain i did manage to save one longbow but limbs are so twisted it looks like a cork screw i have tried in vain to straighten under hot then cold water also heatgun over and over cant believe its not delaminating(wife is taking over typing-drove me crazy with hunt and peck)Does anyone have history with a Stotler bow?  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at some dealers stock bows but it seems the poundage is either too heavy or the takedowns seem bulky to me.  Pat

Where are you in Wisconsin? I have a pretty good selection of bows I could loan you until you get one.

Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.      Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.

Fire is a creature like no other, and when it comes after you like that, it changes everything. I know, my wife and I lost everything 5 years ago this month. Thankfully, like you, no one was injured. Good luck replacing everything.
And speak up if you need anything. Hope you are shooting soon.

Jamie, thanks! You are right, fire is a creature like no other.  Thank you for you offer on needing anything.  Our insurance is taking real good care of us.  But, they can't replace the feeling of my old long bow in my hand! But there will be others.  Quick note: Last hunting season sitting in a tree stand with brand new Alum. arrows fletched by a friend (I always make my own-except this time), I saw bright leaves dropping at my feet.  Little did I know at the time that it was the feathers off of my arrows!!  Five arrows in my quiver,an hour  after opener, five bare shafts in my quiver!!  Made it back home grabbed some of my wood arrows and nailed a spike that evening.  (I was hunting with the guy that made the arrows-that is why I was using them). Dampness from the early morning frost must have been the culprit.  Oh well, makes memories!!  Thank you again,  Pat.

The most grateful thing, and I sure you are, is that everyone is OK, all that other stuff can be replaced, the memories can never be taken.  As some of said on other threads;

 " this to will pass  " and I will lead to that, it to will become a memory.

One thing that might help you in your typing, I use Speaking Naturally by Dragon.  No reason, well I guess there might be one, I've tried taking typing classes even about three times, to no avail, so I talk to my computer, it types is fast as I can talk, but sometimes you have to correct the words, example "and" "in" sometimes it will type in for and, and for and, once you get the program train to your voice, it's pretty decent, I use a digital mike, and that helps out a lot.  The only other trouble is, it's just like as if you're right in front of me, and I'm talking to you, and sometimes people have trouble reading that way, and I have to kind a watch the third person thing.  Just thought it might help, I know how frustrating it can be saying something and having your wife typing, that's why I got this program.  She was all the time asking me if she could type for me, when I started going to college I had to do some different, lots of papers in college.  Graduated in 2006, hopefully things go better from this point on, it's good that the insurance company is working with you.
