Just ordered a new bow from Dan Toelke and am having a hard time deciding what type of finish to put on the limbs.  We use beautiful woods with our bows and a nice gloss finish brings out the best in the wood.  How many think that gloss limbs spook game?  The Flat finishes are a neat idea but don't highlight that expensive piece of wood in your hands.  What do you guys prefer.

Gloss will reflect light when Hunting.  You will be like a mirror walking through the woods.  Now you can dull them up by putting paste wax on them and not buffing it.  But that is plain ugly.  I prefer a hand rubbed look with a satin or dull finish.

Makes it look like a hand rubbed oil finish.

I much prefer flat or satin for hunting. Gloss looks nice on the range but not in the woods.

Enjoy your new bow.

Satin May be a nice compromise.  I don't want to go with the absolute flat finish I see on some bows.  Thanks for the input.

I like satin on mine, but they are all built to hunt!

Satins great in general and what I get most of the time.I have had a couple real beauties that I had done in gloss that looked steller.I did hunt with those bows and covered the limbs with camo limb skins (Spandex) that came down over the riser fadeouts and had no issues. They protect the bow finish too and dont hinder performance. If you want gloss get the limb covers and your good to go.

Dull and flat on everything. I even take the gloss off my arrows.

In my opinion if your going hunting with this bow go either with a satin or flat finish. Gloss reflects light, the shiney reflection can be spotted by game. No scence spooking the critters your hunting.

On the other hand if this is not a hunting bow then by all meens go with the gloss finish. I like those Sunday goin to church glossy bows I see at the range.

Gloss will reflect the sun like a mirror. The duller the better. It has always amazed me when I see bright shiny articles, they seem to immediately attract my attention.
Wonder why? Cover it with mud.
