PastorSteveHill

I'd like to try Beman Classics...

THey say use 9/32 diameter screw in points... My question is when setting one up for hunting, (I use wenssel woodsman heads) what type of broadhead addapter would work? I don't see any sold that are 9/32...

Thanks for any info...
Blessings,
Steve

PastorSteveHill

Is there any way to add weight to the front of them???
Blessings,
Steve

Check out Three Rivers, they have different sizes for the 300's, 340's, 400's and 500's. Pg 31 of the new catalog.

Steel broadhead adapters, brass inserts, heavy broadheads... My 400's fly really good out of my 61# longbow with 145 up front and no weight tubes.

Will the brass inserts ( the ones I use in my Carbon Express Heritage shafts) fit in these bemans???
Blessings,
Steve

The shafts are a different (smaller) diameter and the inserts fit down inside the shaft. The back of the point or broadhead adapter fits tight to the end of the shaft - no lip on the inserts.

Brass inserts for your Carbon Express will fit if you are shooting Beman ICS but not the MFX.BAR 5 adapters will work for MFX 500 and 400.Broadhead adapters run around $14 to $15 for a dozen. What I did was to foot my MFX with a 1" piece of aluminum,ir really strengthens up the arrow shaft. It makes 5/16" points fit flush and you can foot your arrows with a scrap arrow shaft.

Ok, help me out. I'm still a bit confused...

If I get the bemans classics, and I want to shoot Wensel woodsmans, I'll need a broadhead adapter to glue on the Woodsmans.  Can I get the standard 11/32 and use it with the Beman shafts, so long as I use the Broadhead adapter rings? Is that what you guys are saying?

Because I don't see or have I ever seen and steel broadhead adapters at 9/32 ....
Blessings,
Steve

Steve,
I use the standard 11/32 adapter on my woodsmans and the beman mfx shaft.

You may want to try Razor Caps Broadheads. Same shape and profile as wensel woodsmen and are all stainless steel. Youc an get weights between 125-200gr. I use them on my Beaman classics with the 145gr. You will not need a adaptor and will have really good penatration. I shot two deer with this setup and was very impressed.

You can use the standarded 11/32 with the Woodsman heads or get a screw-on broadhead like the Razor Caps to avoid the broadhead adaptor.  I use the 125 gr broadhead adaptor on my Beman MFX Classics without the adaptor rings and have not had any problems.

9/32 is the diameter of the shaft, most adaptors are 5/16 or 11/32 and they will work with Beman Classics. The shaft is going to be smaller than back of the head.  Beman Classic's use the HIT (Hidden Insert Technology) insert, inside the shaft, nothing exposed.

Beman MFX Classics are the same as any other arrow when it comes to broadheads...use a standard thread broadhead.  If you use a broadhead that is a glue on type you'll need a broadhead adaptor of some sort i.e. aluminum or steel.

If you get a stiffer spine 400 and lower, for a bow that is lower poundage (around 50) you're going to need more weight up front. From what I've read on here and heard most people with bows around 50 lbs and a standard draw of 28" need around 200 to 250 grains up front with a 400 spine arrow.  This will require a large heavy head like Muzzy phantom 220, Razorcap with heavier ferrules or something that will get you to that weight.  Like a 100 grain steel adaptor and a 125 grain head like a WW.

The other thing you can do is replace the aluminum HIT insert (if I remember correctly weighs 14 grains) with a 100 grain brass HIT insert and use any standard head on the market...this will allow you a larger choice of "mainstream" heads.  If you like a particular glue on broadhead that is around 100 to 150 grains use the supplied aluminum HIT insert and a steel broadhead adaptor to get you to the correct weight up front.

I use a 30.5" Beman Classic 500 spine with my Savannah longbow and Kota Kill-um recurve.  I shoot both drawn to 29.5", my Kota is 46 lbs and my Savannah is approximately 53 lbs at that draw length.  I can shot the same arrow from both but need a 125 grain head with my longbow and a 145/150 grain head with my recurve.  This fall if I hunt deer with my Kota I'm going to shoot a threaded WW or a Razorcap with the ferrule that gets it to the 150 grain weight, more than likely it will be the Razorcap since I could use it with both my longbow and recurve, just change out the ferrule.

Looks like I rambled on for a while so I'll wrap it up...hope this helps.

3 Rivers and Cabela's both sell 100 grain brass HIT inserts for Beman MFX classics.

I have axis 500, what is the difference between them and Beamon 500 ?  Are the axis 500 to stiff ?  Beamon 500 have been recommended to me.  My poundage is 43# @ 29" "a Whip", new custom, should receive it today.

I'm using stinger 125 gr, two blade with bleeders.

Broken arrow,

500 is 500 is 500.  That is the deflection in a spine tester...Easton is now selling xx78s by deflection number insead of 2016, 2117, ect.  An Axis and a Beman MFX are as close as manufacturing tolerences will allow two shafts to be.

BowBrain

The difference in the two shafts is in the approximate weight per inch.  The Axis 500 is 8.1 grains per inch and the Beman MFX Classic 500 is 9.7 grains per inch.

DeerSpotter

Thank you,

I think my total arrow weight right now is 428 gr.  But I'd like to be closer to 450-500, so I will have to be adding some weight, well it's off to the post office, I sure hope they have it.
