Well am hoping to head to Cabelas in the AM to buy some Beman MFX Carbons for a new Recurve and am looking for guidance.

Bow is a 50# @ 27" RER Arroyo (54" Model). I draw to exactly 27".   Any suggestions on which shaft may work, 400, 500? Want to shoot an arrow in the 500-600 weight range as well.
Any input?

Go with 500's. That's what I use....put 100grain brass inserts in and 125gr. broadheads. Seems to fly well for me.  You can raise the weight with several lengths of weed-eaterline shoved down the shaft from the nock end...good luck!

I shoot Beman 500, 30" with 100gr insert and 175gr points, and my arrows are about 520gr.

This is out of a BW 53#@28", but I draw 29" so about 56#.

My go to bow is an Arroyo 54"er. you should shoot the 500s with a 100 grain brass insert cut to 28.5"s and point weight of 125-150 grains. Ya have to experiment a bit with point weight,as I do not think ya want 3"s of arrow sticking out in front of ya at full draw. Shawn

Thanks to all. That is about what I was thinking, but not that experienced with Carbons out of a Tradbow. I know they can be a bear to tune sometimes.
Shawn, your setup sounds ideal, I usually shoot a 29" Cedar so 28.5" gets me close. I would like to keep the shaft length fairly close to what I typeically shoot.
Well, of to Cabelas to spend some hard eraned cash.
