This hunt provides a bunk house sleeping accomodation for 5-6 guys. The hunt starts on Friday at noon and goes until Sunday at noon. The hunt is scheduled the weekend of May 16 through 18.  The outfitter says there is a possibility we can get an extra day on May 15 thrown in at no extra cost.

Cost for the hunt, (2 hogs take) is $550.00 plus license and tags. There is a $200 deposit required by the outfitter to reserve your spot.  FYI, I don't make any money on this hunt, these are what the fees the ranch charges for trespass and bunkhouse sleeping accomodations.  Bring your own food, sleeping bag, cook your own meals, pack your own trash, care for your own game.  This is an opportunity to meet some new friends, maybe make it an annual Left Coast event similar to the Texas Sweat...

Unfortunately California is a place where nothing is free. These fees are actually about average for the local area market rates. The ranch is 4000 acres and the hunting for hogs is quite good.

If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll forward additional details.

Ray Hammond,
It's important that Traditional Bowhunter Icons like yourself and some of the other "giants" in the industry spread themselves, their experiences, their expertise around so that the regular guys can gain.  I'd love to have you show me how to hunt hogs, God knows you've wacked enough of them critters.  Pass that MOJO stuff around to us mere mortals!

Mr. Chuck is the MAN! He's one of my beaver hunting pals. You are right, what a great guy.

I'm going on a hunt for hogs at the end of the month. Maybe next time you set up a hunt I could join you. I always enjoy your hog stories and pics.

Curlis,

Most any other man who tells me he's goin "Beaver Huntin' in the late hours of the night would get a raised eyebrow.  When Mr. Chuck is off Beaver Hunting he's not after some Lounge Lizzard at the local pub, but actually will be bringin home the Beav, muskrats, and other such critters.  Other guys I know that goes Beaver Huntin in the late hours of the night bring hoome stuff that needs penecillin to clear up....

I don't think my wife would let me go with anyone else.

MIke,
I'm in. Couldn't make it with Wtpops this year (job troubles). I had the pleasure of hunting at Choppers with Wtpops and Bjorn last year. Great guys and Choppers is my favorite place to hunt hogs in CA.

Ray, if you make it next year I'm DEFINITELY going. Just one word of warning...Choppers isn't as flat as your SC hog haven!  We'll get together again before then though...

Would love to go, but we just bought a house up in Leavenworth WA!  that's why I've been sorta quiet for the past week or so!  Mike, can you put me down for another hunt maybe later in the year?

Mike, what is the name of the ranch? I would love to go but I am currently going on another hunt the last weekend of March in that same area. If you are filled up, maybe it will expand to next year and I would love to join you. That price is very fair.

Change of Date for this hunt ....the outfitter has asked us to change to Memorial Day Weekend, the dates are now May 23rd to the 26th and has added another day to to sweeten the deal.  It's now a four day hunt.  :readit:

I don't know how this will affect people who expressed an interest in going on the prior hunt which was one weekend earlier, but the outfitter says he'd like to give the hogs a weeks rest.  Perhaps the rest will make for a better hunt anyway.
