Anyone Shot a Beeler Bow and How Was It?

I got a Beeler bow in yesterday and it was a pleasant surprise. I believe that it technically is a longbow, but it has a lot of deflex/reflex in the limbs.

Getting it in a trade, and not being familiar with Beeler bows, I thought it would be just average. After the first shot at 3/4 draw,(this is just to see if it's going to fly apart) I started hitting a 3" dot consistently. After 30 or so shots I had decided it could definitely be a keeper.

Anyone else have one of these, and what is your opinion?

This is my Dave Beeler bow. I've been shooting her since last summer and love it. Dave's a great guy to deal with. I plan on having him make me another one this spring. I have his contact info if anyone wants to contact him.

DannyBows, When I shot this bow for the first time I saw several things. First it shot where I pointed it. Also, it was quiet in the hand, no noise, shock, or vibration. I haven't chronographed it yet but it seems fast. After shooting 30 or so times I noticed that it was forgiving. I shot both wood and carbon, but didn't have a bad shot in the group.

My conclusion was that it was very well designed and built. It's also has a unique appearance and is not half bad to look at.

Cool looking bow.  Maybe kind of a horse bow hybrid!!??

I talked to Dave several months ago about building me a bow. Family obligations and other obligations kept me from ordering it. I WILL be ordering one though, soon I hope. They are nice looking bows, and i've never read a negative thing about them.

Hi 2fletch, This is Dave Beeler, I just wanted to thank you for the coments, and review of the bow. Thank you. Dave Beeler

2fletch, your review is spot-on. I had never shot a Longbow/Hybrid before my Beeler, just recurves. I couldn't stop smiling after the first shot. It just felt good. That group is my second three arrow group from about 18-20 yards, no tuning, and I'm just an average shot, coming to Trad just over a year ago. I haven't shot my recurves since. She is quiet, smooth, and very forgiving. I don't have a lot of comparison as for speed, but I feel she's plenty fast. I highly recommend Dave's bows to anyone. Also, due to my easy transition to her from recurves, I would judge this bow design to be a great choice for anyone thinking about getting into Trad via Longbows, or someone trying longbows coming from recurves. It certainly shortened my learning curve. I'm still amazed that something so light and graceful can spit an arrow with such authority. I'm agonizing over wood choices for my next Beeler at the moment. Dave is in Kansas by the way, and a great guy to deal with.

Hi All, resurecting this post from the dead. I just got a Beeler R/D bow and wanted to get some info on it. Does anyone know if Dave is still around or have an email or contact for him?

Last I heard Dave moved to Iowa or thereabouts a couple 2-3 of years ago.  Hung up the bowyer hat due to falling on some tough times/ illnesses in the family or something along those lines.  He used to have a website.  His bows have always been well liked.
