i have a recurve #54 @ 28, i have some beman 340 shafts with 5 grain per inch weight tubes and a 100 grain brass insert with a 115 grain zwickey. is this going to be too stiff of an arrow @ 30" all of this is approximatley 650 grains ?

I think so. Beman 400s with that set up might be closer.

My first guess is that they will be too stiff, but you didn't mention your draw length.  That info would help.  For a 54lb bow I would start with about a .480 spine and then try a .400 with a heavy FOC if you really want a heavy arrow.  But every bow is different, give it a try and let us know.

You already have them so shoot them and see.

If they are stiff, take out the tubes and add some more weight on the front.

Yer, what SOS said. I've left weight tubes out, because I knew my shafts were boarder line on being too stiff, and have put 300g up front (200g zwickey eskimos, and 100g brass inserts). Total arrow weight is about 600-620g. My shafts are 28" longs. So if you put the weight tubes in, and they're too stiff. Try this..... Hope this helps!

You can use 125 gr steel inserts in your zwickey's Bob Morison sells the, in 75,100 and 125 gr not sure who else has the steel screw in inserts for glue on heads.

It may still be stiff   :confused:   I'm about to switch from the beman ICS to the CX heritage shafts which are heavier per inch not that I care personally but if your looking for more wieght ya should be able to get close to that 650 mark with a CX250 shaft left 30" with 250+ up front based on the #ers I've been lookin into recently

PS if ya happen to go a little weak you can pad your side plate to bring her right in...
