Can't seem to get into doing my taxes so this is seems to be a good diversion     You didn't think I gave up on the idea of a T/D bow holder for a ground blind though!  My first attempt got me lots of ideas.  JC's is best in that just look for a good stick.  That would work well in hardwood areas but in Mesquite Texas    You ever tried to push a Mesquite branch into the ground...instant blood trail from your hand.

But I hadn't thought about a forked branch...duh!  I also wanted it simple and most of all T/D to fit in my fanny pack.  It needs to be firmly positioned in the ground so the weight of the bow doesn't spin it around.  Bow needs to be vertical to keep movement to a minimum at crunch time.

2nd generation up for critique.  Three pieces with friction fit.  It will be camoed if this is the one.  Deer antler fork into section of 3/4" pvc with broom handle into other end of pvc.  It can be any length you like...limit for me is it has to fit inside my pack. That bowholder will never work here...no snow to stick it in!

I think I like this version even better.  Just wondering how it would stick into the ground if it were hard.  I made a stake for an antelope decoy out of some iron rod.  It looks kind of like an "h" with two legs that stick into the ground to keep it from spinning around and to give you a step to push it in with your foot.  

If you wanted to make a longer version it would be pretty simple to cut it in half and use shock cord to tie the two halves together.

Now you've got me thinking!

I always try to envision how a bow holder would work out in a blind.  Most I have considered, but not tried, seem like they would be in the way once I grabbed the bow and made ready for the shot.  Thus, I still don't have one and either lay the bow on the ground or across my lap.  Have you tried yours in close quarters?

Tippit; I sew on 2 clothing hooks on all my hunting pants. They should sew on the front of the thighs about mid zipper high. When your sitting down you hook the string on them and it holds the bow across your lap. I use them to hold my bow whether in tree stands or ground stands or if walking, to hold the bow while glassing or getting something out of my bag.

I`ve used them for over 20 yrs. and have had no gripes with them at all. They are small,easy to sew on, dont snag on things at all, and they are always there, ready to hang a bow on.   Bob

draco,  Do you have a picture of thsoe clothing hooks.  That's a good idea.

Orian,  The holder has to be lower than your arrow at draw so you can swing on your intended target and a little out in front of you.
