Tradditional Bow holder!  (Taken apart.)  I would add some kinda point on the end of the pvc, to make it easier to stick in the ground.

yep that would be my guess also. Ditto's on the point. That is if you plan on hunting from the ground? otherwise a way to bolt it onto a stand.<><<><

Or you could put a point on it and use it out of a stand but you'll need a MUCH longer piece of PVC.  

Hey, I was there when that was just a gleam in your eye!  So will the PVC just slip over the top of a stake in the ground?

You're all right to a degree    But if that was it, it would be too long to carry in your pack.  As Whip mentioned, on the Sweat you just made a quick blind cut into a Mesquite bush and laid the trimmings in front of you...that is unless you were "hunt it" who dug an elaborate pit blind  :D    

Anyway I wanted something to hold my bow vertically in front of me so the pigs (which unfortunately I did not see any and probably why I thought so much about gadgets) would not pick up the movement of my bow from horizontal in my lap or if I just got tired of holding my bow from...did I mention not seeing any pigs!

This is a one foot section of 3/4 inch pvc.  I had an old bow holder from an early Screaming Eagle stand, and a piece of wine cork...rubber better.  First open the wine bottle and use it for medicinal purposes from not seeing any pigs  :rolleyes:  Drill a hole the diameter of your arrow shaft in the cork.  Assemble your parts:

 

Now add an Arrow for your length.  The pvc covers the fletching and the feathers keep it from rattling.  The cork in the other end keeps the pvc from rotating around the shaft.  With  12" of pvc you can adjust the height by repositioning the arrow.  The cork still holds pvc tight to arrow at any height.

 

 

no wounder you did not see pigs they saw you first. put camo paint on that thing .      

With the ground frozen here, I tried it in a flower pot.  Molly's in SC so I can do anything I want with the flower pots...that is as long as I water them      It works well with very little material to carry.  I think you will need to use an old broadhead on your arrow so the weight of the bow doesn't rotate the holder.

That's not a problem for me cause I carry one arrow with a blunted WW that I use as rabbit arrow.  That's another story about modifying WW after you miiiisssss and shoot them into a rock...don't throw them away just round off the point for a great varmint head.  I think someone gave me that WW broadhead as I can't remember missing

Jeff you are a wise man. Now come up with a way of fixing it to my Lone Wolf climber.  I still have not run into Mel yet to see my gift.  Thanks for the idea's.  I have started shooting again with a 50# old Black Widow. I am also shooting my new 65# Super Diablo.  Need to work on my strength and form a little. The month layoff is showing in my accuracy.

John,  Funny you should post this as Mel just emailed me pictures of your sheath...much prettier than that old knife.  Glad to hear of your continual progress.  But if I shot one of my old 65# bows, I'd probably end up in the hospital!  You take care    Doc

Looks good. As for ideas of improvements, I would have a pre cut "arrow" that fits inside the tube. The end of it could stick in the cork to keep it from rattleing around, maybe another piece at the other end as well.

Then when I'm ready to use, I would uncork the end and pull out the shaft. Put the cork back in and attach the "cut arrow" in the cork.

That way it would be all in one bow holder. You wouldn't have to use any of your arrows.

Hood, The cut arrow would be too short to support the weight of the bow.  The other problem is I don't want anything that won't fit in my fanny pack.  Since I carry a side quiver with 4 broadheads and one bunny head.  I won't be using the bunny head at the blind.  If I shoot 4 broadheads I'll quickly disassemble the bow holder arrow and add a new sharp broadhead!

Well actually if I shoot 4 broadheads that quickly, I'll probably so unglued that it won't make any difference with another shot    Doc

Bowdoc,  This is a prototype for you so when you're in your ground blind 5 feet from the bait bucket, you don't have to move to get your bow  :eek:  the other Doc

Great idea Jeff. When hunting stationary on the ground, I usually do it the easy way and just spend and hour looking for the right stick   :rolleyes:

Or you could mount it on the lower limb with the open end up and it would be a one arrow quiver.
