I've never made any wooden arrows, but I'd like to give it a shot.  I'm interested in making some ramin  nutters for shooting ptarmigan up here so I don't stress over losing them.

I have absolutely no idea how to spine test or straighten the shafts.  I also have no idea what equipment I would need to do it.  Any help?

Go to the "how To" forum and go to a post "Straightening wood shafts....The easy way"  posted by Guru on 3/3/06.  That should get you straightened out.  (pun intended)

I built a spine tester from some instructions on the web.  I down loaded and printed the spine scale.  I used a couple of pieces of scrap oak flooring (just had it laying around), gas welding rod, some wood glue and a homemade 2# lead fishing weight.  It actually works pretty well.  

I think you could do a google search for arrow spine chart and find the scale.  I found, but can't remember where.

here are some cheap shafts that larry has allready spined and everything!!

Twig archery has some good ramin shafts.  Give John a call.  He will be glad to answer any questions that you may have about ramin or any other arrow wood.
