Basswood boardbow

There is a chance i can get some basswood for a pretty reasonable price..Has anyone used it for board bows or is it to soft etc?

Too soft etc. Think about the old drawing boards and how you could push a tack into them. They were made of basswood.

Nice stuff to carve though.

there is a wooden shoe factory in our town, they use basswood exclusively for that.  There are quite a few growing around here, it is a straight growing tree, bamboo backing? Tempting.

Make some arrow shafts out of it.  Works better for that. dino

finger lakes bowhunter

bass wood is only good for carving.  I chopped all the basswood trees down on my property to leave more room for the cherries and oaks.
