Hey Mark-  Sticks Only is a little bit crazy but the man can hit his mark with a bow.  He is kinda my test monkey for how much my bows will take.  He ripped right through a doe last year with the 420 grain setup.  You can't argue when the proof is on the table.  Oh ya, did I mention that he's a little crazy.   :banghead:  JD

Man I seen the video of that shot and it was threw that deer in a heart beet,,And yes it is still very quite,,

1/4 away

Not to take anything away from Dan Toelke but my Whisperstik is all the bow I'll ever need. JD's craftsmanship is second to none and his bows are just flat out awesome in both looks and performance.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Sticks only

I had JD laughing yesterday shooting a 340 grain carbon out of one of the new 56" recurves at 60lbs. Talk about fast. In fact I think his words were "Good lord thats compound fast". Still quiet   :D
Sincerely, the test monkey

It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

Ol Man

Have a Toelke Whip... 58 lb. and I shoot a 428 grain arrow.  This bow is extremely quiet, (quietest I have ever owned - pushing over 30 custom bows now)easy to shoot, draws smooth and shoots fast.  The speed on this with my arrow is 206 FPS.  I only draw 27" on this bow as well so I guess it is drawing about 55 lbs.

Have not shot a Whisperstick but by the sounds of it you can not go wrong with either bow.
Getting older I tend to talk to myself but, at least I know that I am as smart as the one I am talking to.

Sticks only

Hatchchaser- Remember, I am the Testmonkey, The arrow had plenty of spine for the bow. But if JD's bows will handle that kind of abuse, you will never hurt one with 10+ grains per pound. I am not recomending this as a hunting setup, just testing the new prototypes. The lightest arrow I hunt with is 8.5 grains per pound. That is the setup JD and whitbufalo are refering to.

I like to stay around 10 grains per pound.  I'll bet that arrow was on fire.  What spine do you shoot with that weight, draw length, etc.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

DeerSpotter

It looks like I'm have to do some experimenting, because that's the weight of the Arrow I plan on using (428 Gr)

And the "whip" that I have coming,is 62" 43# @ 29'
but that's what Dan recommended.  I thought I could use axis 500, but they may be to stiff ?  Just have to wait and see when it arrives, Dan said I would have it before March 15,

Carl
