Hey 'Gangers,
I'm at an outdoor show in Augusta, Maine this weekend and the guys have some great prices on leather. I want to make a side-stalker style quiver, and overlay the body with birch bark. My question is: How big of a piece(s) do I need? I figure it'll end up around 25-26" long, since my arrows are 28-30", depending on which batch.

TIA

Buy as much as you can.  If you're like me you won't stop after making the first one.

I figured I'll like it, but for now, I need to know how much to buy to make a GFA-style side quiver. I can get more later, if I want more.

Make a proto-type out of cardboard, take it apart and you have a pattern and know how much leather you need.

I buy my leather by the side, but when cutting for a project I always make a cardboard or heavy paper pattern in order to minimize waste.  If you have time, that is the way to go.  If you don't, a piece 16" by 30" should give you enough for the body and the bottom-except for straps-you will need up to 60" of strap, depending on how tall you are and how low you will want the quiver to hang.  I used 8-9 oz on one I made.
