Doowop, from what I can tell you are'nt far from where Ann lived at Bridgeton, MO.  Ann used to shoot over at Town Hall Archery. I have had the honor of meeting and and watching her shoot at her home a few years ago. You are right on the money, when you nominate Ann Hoyt. She even won the seniors Championship at Las Vegas a few years ago against ladies who were 50 years old. (20 years her junior) I understand she is now in a rest home in St Louis

Yep had the pleasure of meeting Kathy, that lady is deadly on small game. Not to mention a good person, I better shut up or she might blush   :bigsmyl:

Quite a few women archers in the 60's were good tournament shooters as far as bowhunters, after spending the weekend with Killy at our Bunny Hunt your going to have to go some to beat her.

She can hunt and she can shoot...I'd share a hunting camp with her anytime

Twig -
Sorry to hear she is in a rest home. This interview is from 2005 and shows how she went from teenage champion to senior citzen trad hunter:

"I harvested a Pope & Young record book antelope on a hunt in Casper, Wyoming back in 1994. The official score was 71". We were heading back to camp and the buck crossed right in front of our car. I jumped out of the car. I still had my equipment with me because I had just been picked up and took a shot at the buck as it went down the hill so we didn't see its head until we were at the bottom of the hill. It was 70 yard shot, instinctive without sights."

If Ann graduated high school in 1941, this would make her age 71, the same as her score. Ann is a hero to all of us geezers, male or female.

Killdeer

Fern Meigs.

Having killed a whopping three animals with my bow, and not having won anything since a small college competition, I doubt that I am even in the faintest glow of the beacons of the many ladies who have lighted the field.

I just run my mouth a lot.

Exactly half of our group of trad shooters are women.  Pretty common around here, to be out shot by a woman.

Killy,
humble pie tastes like poop!! you are what archery is about. your woods and pictures are like watching the flight of an arrow, beautiful, inspiring, honest and proud. thank you for what you bring to the table in the ways of archery.

Bob,

Sherrie Fraker did live in Colorado and I guess still does.  I think she was the lady who did a very nice shot placement presentation and also put it on VHS tape many (maybe 15-20) years ago.
