If I wanted to start shooting alot of 3D stuff, IBO etc.  In order to shoot in the traditional class can I shoot an elavted rest or do I need to shoot off the shelf?

Thanks,

Scott

Most shoot orgs and clubs have there own set of rules so it will differ wherever you go.

For IBO you would have to shoot in the Recurve Unaided class. This classes biggest difference from the trad class is you can use a stabilizer bar and can string walk if you want too and can use just about any kind of arrow rest. The Trad class in the IBO is off the shelf only.

Some of the big trad shoots will allow a single one piece stick on arrow rests but thats about it.

Onestringer, if I am going to a large 3-D shoot I try and find a contact person from the club putting on the shoot. I call and ask what the rules are that day. Some clubs follow IBO rules, some follow NFAA rules, some clubs like ours make up our own by what we feel is fair to everyone.
Ibo has very specific rules for trad classes. NFAA seems to bunch everyone into one class.
Both groups have web sites with the rules posted if that helps.
Nothing worst than travling to a shoot and finding out that your bow or arrows are not legal. It does not make for a "happy bowshooter". I know from experience.

You would be OK for ASA shoots. I would read the IBO regs as stated above they have a couple of different classes.

Also calling never hurts. Some shoots I have seen will not allow things such as elevated rests, carbon arrows, etc...

Good Luck!
