Are the bleeders ment to break if they hit bone??? Has anyone tried using differant bleeders ( magnus ect.) in them???

Stringcutter---(did you get your moniker the way I think you did?)

I have a dozen unused bleeders and one of the mounting tools to which you are welcome.  Also a dozen of the greenheads (well used)---they are mounted on aluminum inserts with hotmelt.

Anyone:  I was given, by an elder friend, a bunch of old broadheads, which I cannot identify.  He said he bought them either in southern CA or OR back in the 50's, and hunted with them,  and sold them on the custom arrows he made back then..  They are black, made of only 2 layers of steel, and have slightly convex blades.  There are no bleeder slots in the ferrules.  Their average weight is 118 gr (+/- 4 gr).  I have 57 of them, most in good shape.
I sharpened a few to try and found the welds on some are not real consistant.   I am not using them, so if anyone wants them, let me know.

Another great way to sharpen any bleeder is to clamp them into the exacto knife handle, then you can stroke them on a stone nicely.

How many broadhead companies used Bear bleeders in thier heads. I recently joined the ABCC and I,ve been collecting heads about a year. I have some Bowlo 4 heads that need bleeders and cant find any. Are they meant to have Bear bleeders in them. I always wondered if a Bear bleeder mounted in a 145gr. field point would make a decent small game head.

I don't think the Magnus bleeder blades will work in the Bear bhs. because they are too thick.

Well folks---the UFO's are no longer unidentified.  Shep ID'd them as Fleetwood Deerslayers, made in CO from 1947 until?

Cool. I found an old pic of a Deerslayer  that looked right but there wasn't enough definition in the photo for me to be sure. Thanks for your generosity Yolla Bolly.
