I just adjusted my PMAV to the specs and is working great...I cut a beaver ball in half went 1/4 and then 1/3 with the widow silencer...quietened it a whole bunch. Shooting 3555 GT Traditionals cut to 29 with 125 gr tip and man what a difference

Al,

Thanks for the tip, I stopped in at BW today and picked up some wolleys. Put them where you said and the PSR is quiter. With a full quiver minus one it should be reallll quite.

Thanks again,
Scott

Thought I bring this to the top again for those that need help in getting your wonderful Widders quiet!

Hey Al, looks like it's been almost two years since the first post.  I'm guessing you haven't found any better combination since this was first posted?
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Al,

Can you hear a big difference with only 2 silencers?

Mike Manassa

Morning Al...I have the same silencer setup on my PSRX Osage and it made the bow extremely quiet...I had to brace it a little higher than Black Widow specs though..Mike  :wavey:

Dave, I've always used this set up mate and found it to be the best for me, BW's and my shooting style... not that I shoot all that different from others...lol.

Steve, it's hard to really say, but I just found that the 4 placed in those positions worked a treat.

What I have done of late is split two Woolie Whispers in 4, making them smaller and tied those into a flemish. Works well.

Happy 2010!

Change the the serving on that widow string improves their quitness and gain a little speed

For my PL longbow I use two spider silencers on each end, at about 8" and 11" from end of string. I also use limbsavers at the fades.
Must quiet the bow pretty well as I shot a doe with it this fall, and a second doe with it ran back a few yards when I shot the other doe and then came back and fed under my stand within a couple of minutes as if nothing had happened....

One more thing I do to make my PL's quieter is to go to 8" or 8 1/4" brace height. This is the single best thing you can do to make the PL's quieter in my experience. I just got a PLV 66" today through a deal with a fellow tradganger...Had to go to 8 1/4" brace height to make it quiet enough for me...I have two other 64" PLV's also and they were quiet at 8".....Play around with the brace height and you'll see what I mean.....Hope this helps....

VA Robinhood

I use yarn silencers, seems to really quiet my PSA down alot.

bama

I use brush buttons and 4 silencers on my string but I honestly don't think that it matters.  Any noise whatsoever can be heard by a deer and sometimes the softer noises seem to scare them more.  Its impossible to eliminate it altogether.

Big Ed

10 strand Ultra Cam String Padded loops with cat whisker silencers. Longbow quiet and pretty quick to boot.
