Anyone shoot the Hoyt Dorado (new recurve)?  Opinions?  Does it use the same limbs as the GM and GMII?

I can't tell much except that I had one in my hands today, I think it propbably will shoot ok, it has a very good grip, while it has a radiused shelf I wasn't a fan of the rest material that comes with the bow.

If you go to the Hoyt website,  it will tell you all about it.   I'm considering the Dorado myself!  

We have one in the shop and I set it up and shot it.  Very nice bow-smooth and easy draw and launches without handshock, as expected.  I like it because it doesn't have the extra "bar".

Can anyone tell me how they shoot? Do they shoot as hard as other top bows out there? Are they quiet or loud?

I really like the looks of the bow. Somebody has shot one somewhere.

I just bought one today. I also have a GM. I like the grip and the feel of the dorado better. The riser is more deflex and the grip fits my hand better so I find it easier group with. The limbs apear to be the same and are still running a little high on poundage. It has 50# limbs that are 54#@28. I'll try ad post comparison pics next week when the warden goes back to work.  :D

Here are some pics. As you can see the riser is shorter on the dorado but is more deflex than the GM. I find it easier to shoot. It uses the same limbs as the GM.

Looks like the Dorado shelf is cut real low and close to your hand

I saw and handled a GMII about 2 weeks ago in my local dealers shop.  I really liked the feel of it too. I bet the Dorado is just as nice if not moreso than the GMII.
The price you list seems WAY HIGH!!  I can't remember what they priced the Dorado at but I know it wasn't that much.  If that is what your shop is quoting you, you need to shop around some.

One thing I wish Hoyt would do is make a fitting for both the Doradon and GMII so they could accept ILF limbs and also let you have the adjustability that comes with ILF Risers.  WARFing those risers would be GREAT and I would buy one tomorrow.  I guarantee that Hoyt would sell them as fast as they could make them.  The other risers they would compete with are LOTS more money.

David at DAS bows makes a ILF attachment for the GM.

I have checked about those attachments that he sells and have read lots of comments about them.  Everyone that uses them really likes them.  If I got one of the Hoyt Risers no doubt I would use his product if something like I want wasn't available.

What I am talking about would let you use the ILF limbs AND give you the adjustability that comes with the ILF risers and WARF risers.  On my WARF riser I attach the ILF limbs and I can adjust the draw weight up or down a range of about 7 pounds or so depending on the Riser you are using.  The attachments that SOSA sells only lets you attach the limbs and it doesn't give you any adjustment at all.

Who knows, maybe someone will change it.

coming apart after several arrows.I replaced it
with off shelf rest...works great hen feather not
getting torn up now. I shoot Easton ST Epic 600
125 grain tip. Bow is 45# Camo,I put wiskers and
limb savers arrow speed 187 F/Sec. It's quiet for
hunting.I can hit target at 35-40 yds with it.

Thanks to all that responded.  I greatly appreciate you all taking the time to post.  I'm definitely going to look into one later - not that I need another bow...but I am very interested in this model since I sold my GM.

The concerns with the shelf material don't concern me too much because I always put on my own material - preferably Seal Skin.  I've really been enjoying that stuff.

I guess I had got lucky with my GM.  I had two sets of limbs for it - 45's and 50's.  At 27" draw, they pulled 43 and 48 respectively on my scale, which told me they were pretty much dead-on the number.  If I could buy this new Dorado with 50's and they pulled anywhere from 48 to 52 lbs, I'd be very happy.

I'm trying to help someone figure wood arrow spine for a Dorado.  Is the riser cut to or past center?  How much?  Thanks

FYI there was a post on here about the Reflex Nomad. It's the same bow and they are selling for $300 at Ca....'s.  Do a search for it. I'm really looking at this bow.
