Today on the way in to work (5:00am) i found a dead goose in my drivway with no head,neck or inards(is that a word?)i took a quick look around for tracks but couldnt find any because of light conditions.I spoke with my wife at 7 am and no goose is to be found???? i got a pic of a big dog on my cuddeback 6 weeks ago but havent seen him yet, i guess hes back?

I had a yote 20 feet behind my pool not 3 weeks ago...saw him as I let the dogs out...and they barked and off he spooked!

Talking to the neighbors a few days later, I heard they had their little dog just a squealing in their back yard...they ran out and the yote had her in its mouth!  So they chased it off...

That's the 4th I've seen at the house in 6 years, and I've seen about 3 more in farm fields off US23 on the way to work in the last month.

Our other neighbor called in a "child-in-distress" call to 911 last fall...turns out she heard a few yotes tearin' up a rabbit in the farm field behind us.  It makes a God-awful noise, and she's clueless about wildlife...so I guess it's understandable.  Plus she has 4 little girls...

I used to live out West in Arizona...and I don't want a ton of the yotes tearin' up the pheasant and rabbits (or cats, little dogs...) around my huntin' areas...

I also could have shot one last year in deer season....but I didn't have my fur-harvester license...so not a good idea in a place frequented by the DNR...guess I better get my license this year.

It's funny that this topic came up today. Just last night when my wife returned from having our taxes done, she said that as she was coming up the driveway, in the high beams of her jeep, she saw a coyote standing near the house. What I thought was odd about her seeing a coyote was that I had just got done letting our Lab, Huck out for the last time of the evening. I mean, like one minute before she came up the drive. I would have thought that letting our dog out for a few minutes would have scared off any animal near the house. Talk about bold!

As an aside, I routinely mow a path around the perimeter of a large field behind our house so that my wife doesn't have to walk our dog down our dusty/muddy/snowy/icy (pick one) road. This year, more than any year in recent memory, we have noticed significantly more coyote scat on the mowed trail.

This past year while out bowhunting I saw coyotes on two occasions. On the first occasion, I had two, big beautiful coyotes come loping through together about an hour after sunrise. Really a neat sight.

Nice picture and a  beautiful animal. Looks like its thawing out up there his back paws sunk in aways. I agree with Killy. CAT CONTROL AT ITS FINEST... ok i lov cats.

We get a few around my mom's place in the San Joaqiun Valley in Calif. They get very bold, come right up around the house. The nearest neighbor has had trouble with them chasing there cats. He also found another neighbors bloody dog coller out behind his house.
Mom has two dogs, so far no trouble for them, but we will be thinning the coyotes if we get a chance.

I love yotes.Without them wed be overrun with feral cats and any dog worth his salt can stand his own ground to 2 or 3 yotes.

Man you can catch that yote right there with a hole set. You'll have it buy the foot in the morning..Make a nice quiver...

Man, that is a healthy coyote.  We have them all around here but the California ones are usually skinny - kinda like those Hollywood people.

Can you live trap him and send him to me.  I have a problen with feral cats that needs taken care of.  My wife and daughters won't let me take care of them my way.  Please don't feed him before shipping.  I want him nice and hungry when he gets here.  JD

A coyote twenty feet from anyones house in daylight is a bad yote.

That looks to me to be a mature female, and at this time of year a female that size is never without a couple of male boyfriends somewhere close.

The thirty pound mouse eaters of yesterday are being replaced with chunky, bold, mini wolves.

Somewhere very close to where that photo was taken are some locations that have been scent marked by the males. Find that spot, get set up just before dark, and give some challenge howls, and I bet her boyfriend(s) will show their sneaky faces.

Those yotes need a lesson in manners.

Tom...funny you should say that.  My brother just picked up his full body mount of a yote he shot last year out by his chicken house.  I'll try to get a picture of it to post.

I used to see red and grey fox around all the time.  Caught a photo of this guy several years ago after a big snow.  Never knew fox would eat corn but when there's a foot of snow on the ground I reckon they'll eat anything.  But since the yotes have moved in I don't see near the number of fox that we used to.

Don't know if I love to hate um---or hate to love um--- I do have a great deal of respect for um.

I hate'em with a passion. I respect their ability to adapt but the only god one is a dead one. I have killed them and their pups, they are reaking havoc with our deer heard. Nice pic. but as soon as I snapped it I would of shot it with a rifle!! Shawn
