Man, the yotes are getting bold these days.

This picture was taken this afternoon at 3:29 pm.  He's standing about 20 feet out my back door, right around the time the kids get home from school.  I never saw a one all season long and now the sucker's are right out my back window while I'm at work!!

Every time we had a 'yote that close to the house, dad always had a new rug and one less round for the .222...

yup they're coming into breeding season...they tend to get brave this time of year. Also all the odor from the animals coming into to your mineral block will spike their curiousity.

Good looking quiver on the hoof.

Killdeer

Looks rather well-fed, too. Bet the feral cats are no longer a problem.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Funny you should say that Killdeer as in the 12+ years we've been here, I've not seen a single stray cat around here, EVER!!!  A neighbor thru the woods has a Jack Russell that stays outside year round.  With all the yotes runnin around, I can't even believe that little hound is still alive.

Pooch must have a secure bivvy!

That is one nice looking Coyote! Sure would make a great Mount! I'd be waiting for him tomorrow with a distress call in hand!

I saw one today just before noon in my neighborhood eating a big yellow housecat.  When I rolled my truck window down to snap a picture of it, it gave me a quick look, picked up what was left of the kitty and went back into the woods.

Otto,
Your uncle Virg and I can take care of that issue right now!  He gets giddy when squeezing the trigger on the dogs.

Dano

Yep, he's a plump one. The yotes out here are so skinny you almost feel sorry for them (almost)  :D

Yeah, if you know my uncle, he does get a bit silly when the ole .243 goes off on a yote.

jrchambers....that was a Moultrie I-40 that snapped the picture.  It takes great pictures but it's a horrible shot with a bow.

Yeah, we fatten em up a bit out here before we shoot em!!!

Yes,
We recently had a city deer killed by a pack of yotes. A local wildlife service guy. (Glorified pest control) was speculating that it was a wolf. He was going by the size of the tracks and the condition of the carcass. Of course, he didn't think about the track melting or the fact that maybe it was a pack of yotes, or that the deer was injured by a car first or something. The last time there was a wolf around here was before there were settlers. Of course, then folks all over town were calling in "wolf" sightings.
:readit:   Luckily, the mayor ain't buyin' it. The yotes are simply being pushed out of the woods by construction equipment. Hey, they gotta eat too!

You tear down enough habitat and limit enough hunting, these things happen.
Got wood? - Tom
