I recently acquired this bow and it had some small nicks in it. There were 4-5 spots the size of a pencil eraser where the matte finish had "flaked" off to reveal a gloss coat underneath. I started scratching at one spot and the matte just kept coming off.
   NOW I'm committed. I started sanding but is there an easier way to get this non-adhering matte finish off?
Thanks for any help. Mark

Buck, if I had to guess I'd say it was probably sprayed with fullerplast.  I've done a few bows with the stuff that didn't eventually start flaking.  But I''ve done  a few that did that exact same thing after a year or so.  Unfortunately, sanding is the only way I know of.

Actually you can use a good, straight sided cabinet scraper to speed the process. You'll need to refresh the edge frequently, but it works.

Thanks - I was afraid thats what I'd hear. Oh well - The wife's honey-do list will wait a few more days - right?   :knothead:
