i'm new to the gang.  I'm thinking of buying the ridgeline shirt for archery season this coming fall here in the adirondacks.  Anyone ever washed slpn' indian wool?  anyone happy with it?don't want to spend $289 if it's going to shrink up.

I know they don't recommend washing there products conventionally, only dry-cleaning if absolutely necessary.  I've watched there video on there website.  Nice stuff though seen there products at an outdoor show.

I have never worn there stuff before, I always thought they were a little over priced.

Cabelas recently had a sale on Sleeping Indian shirts, medium sized only, which ordinarily would be a little small for me, but I figured it might give me a little incentive to get back into medium sized, if you know what I mean.  Even at 1/3 off, it was pricey.  I wore it on a recent hunting trip, and felt that it was top quality.  More like a light jacket than a shirt.  Even though it was a little snug, there was plenty of movement in the arms so I never felt like I was fighting it when I took a shot with my bow.  If I ever washed it, it would shrink up too much unless I lose a lot more weight than I probably ever will, so I guess if it ever needs to be cleaned, I'll have to have it dry cleaned.

I have a pair of pants and LOVE them. I also have two pair of KOM pants. I like the SI a little better. I have washed them several times. I NEVER put them in the dryer and have not noticed any shrinkage. When I take them from the washer I give them a light stretching and lay them on a table to air dry.

Have any of ya'll tried the DayOne Camo? They have ASAT in wool. I just ordered a Vest from them. They don't seem to be near as expensive as KOM or Slpg Indian but still not cheap. DAVE

If you want some options, I have a set of Kings Mountain Wools!  They are the best I've run into.  I'll swear by then!  But they are pricey!  

I have numerous items of wool from sleeping indian and can only tell you this stuff wears like iron, is the warmest thing I've ever worn and is on me from fall to spring. As far as over priced goes I feel it is comparible to KOM and I have some of that to. I like the fact that the garments that I own dont rely on linings or aditional insolations to keep you warm or dry. I will also say that the best way to use this stuff is to wear it as a system in layers, but thats like with anything.

I HAVE THE SHIRT YOUR LOOKING AT AND LOVE IT. YOU CAN WASH IT, BUT "BLOCK" IT(TO STRETCH) THE FIRST HALF TO ONE HOUR. I'LL WASH IT ABOUT TWICE A YEAR. AND IT DOES WEAR LIKE IRON!

I thought the KOM was stronger and stitched better so I have stuck with that.

I have bibs, a ridgeline shirt and an archers anorak.  Awesome stuff.  Combined with Ullfrotte wool long johns and I can sit out all day in some pretty nasty temps.

Never have washed the stuff in the 6 or 7 years I've had it.  I hang it outside during hunting season.  In the off months it's in a cedar chest.

I have an SI shirt and pants that I bought for a caribou hunt in '94.  I'm still wearing them, and I wear them a lot.  I wash mine in the machine along with my other wool on the gentle cycle in lukewarm water, rinse the same, then block and hang to dry.  They don't fit as loose as they used to, but it isn't due to shrinkage.

Yes, it is very good stuff, but then so is military surplus for about one tenth the cost.

I don`t have any sleeping indian stuff . But i wear wool fall winter and spring i wear wool . We have never did anything but wash it in cold water and thrown in the dryer . you can` t go wrong buying wool.

I have their parka, only had it a couple weeks, but it is the warmest coat I have ever had, and looks to be made very, very well, but I couldn't even imagine layering under it, t-shirt+this parka+wind+zero degrees = very very comfortable sitting, have to unzip when walking though,may be a little too warm.

Blocking just means laying it out flat to dry and occasionally coming back to it as it dries and shaping it, pulling it, etc.... such that it dries back to it's original shape.

In the long run it's the cheapest stuff you can buy.  AND the run is long.  I through mine it the washer about 4 times a year.
