I happened to come across some bone broadheads on the site we can't mention.Pretty inexpensive.Just wondering if anyone has used bone for hunting,or would they mainly be for display arrows??

I think Doug Campbell may have used a bone broadhead...as if he needed to with his beautiful Damascus heads!  Doc

they're neat to look at but I can't get one "sharp" enough to hunt with.

Not that I'd want to use em all the time but the one on top is made from Buffalo leg bone and full penetrated a mature whitetail buck. I was shooting a 52# osage bow, it entered a couple inches left of the spine and exited a couple inches right of the sturnum centering the heart on the way thru. Biggie is right in that you can't get them anywhere as sharp as you would steel or stone but given the right situation they will work, just pends on how primitive ya want to go....

My only attempt was a smooth edge. Never thought about the serrations. That's why Doug's so cool and I'm not :-(

The ones I got are smooth,and like already stated,not very sharp,which is why I was asking.Plus being the same size as my stone heads,the barely reach 100gr in weight.

The ones I have look almost identical to your pic Biggie.

Any idea if a serrated edge would help??Think it could be done after the fact??Maybe a dremel without causing any damage??

They sure don't look very lethal and if they are not shaving sharp I'll bet they aren't.
 I'm also sure if you poke a sharpen stick in the heart/lungs they're going down just a question of when.

even if you can get em sharp you better check the regs, i know in minnesota, your broadheads have to be metal. they do look cool though.

I thought the same thing thus the serrations, (chainsaw file) and chiseled point and the purple heart footing helped with the weight. No way your getting them "razor" sharp either. I had a buddy messing with them and wanted me to try some. Heck I'll try anything once, now I done it probably never need to again

Oh and that buck was down in like 7 or 8 seconds and 40 yards....

Gopher,I'm in SC.....we have no regs on anything,I could hunt 'em with a pointy stick if the mood struck me......no limits,no minimum draw,no head restictions.
