I am trying to get a group (or two or three) together to do some pheasant hunting at a preserve near Pittsburgh during the PBS banquet there in March.    :archer:

If any of you are going and would like to participate please post here. Each person in a group of 5 would pay between $60 - $75, depending on the tip.  If we shoot well enough each person would walk away with three birds and plenty of feathers for projects.

There is already one group going that I know of.

That sounds like fun. What day are you going?

Snakeeater

Bill, we haven't picked a day yet. I wanted to see if we could get a group of five together. Right now I have me and another guy. You would be the third.

Hmm, maybe?  depends on which day and how much of the day I'd be away from flapping my gums.  Thursday would be my first choice, I think.   Actually, Sunday would probably be really good, even better cause I don't think I fly home until Monday.

PM me for the article I wrote for the PBS magazine, which provides info on several shooting preserves near the Pittsburgh gathering location that will allow us to fling some arrows at roosters.  Neither are open on Sundays, but Mt. Hope shooting preserve is making that friday "bowhunters only".  They can handle 3-4 groups in both the morning and afternoon time slots, but you need to make reservations soon so that they can line up enough guides.  My group is going that friday morning so that we can get back after lunch in time for some great seminars, but afternoon groups will likely get some "bonus" shot apportunities from unkilled morning roosters.

Got my first draft the other day Jeff.  Great article! Chase was surprised to see his pic in there.  Good job!

Steve,

Both of the preserves around there are closed on Sunday, but Thursday could work if others want to do it then.

Thanks Kevin, I'm looking forward to seeing the next PBS magazine myself, as I sent several photos with the article and let Jack select the best one(s).  Guess I had better start practicing with some aerial targets so I don't embarass myself too much.....

Well I am one of the guys that's interested in the Pheasant bowhunt. Hopefully we can get this off the ground and running. I look forward to it.

OK guys, it looks like this is it so far. Let's talk about which day we want to do this on. Jeff's group is going on Friday morning, but I just got off the phone with the folks at Mt. Hope and we could do it on Thursday afternoon if we wanted to and it worked with everyone's travel plans.

So, which day do each of you want?

Steve,

I'm kind of prone to Thursday too. I was thinking of the afternoon. That way we don't miss any of the seminars on Friday or Saturday.

I was in Pittsburgh last weekend, so it was only natural that I gathered my best friends with their bows and flu-flu arrows....

and we tossed some aerial targets for a while....

I need some more practice!

Larry and all you other pheasant killers, or pheasant-shoot-at-ers...
The PBS magazine will be mailed near Feb. 20th to the membership so hopefully that will spur some interest in the pheasant outing.  Hope you all have fun!

Is anyone else interested in shooting their bow while at PBS 2008 and maybe taking some pheasant in the process?

Sounds like a blast!  What better way to beat the late winter doldrums than to get out after some birds with your buddies?

Kevin Bahr

Larry, I just got my Council copy of the new PBS magazine.  It has Jeff's pheasant article in it.  Hopefully that will spur some interest.
While on the subject of birds, we need some contestants for the turkey calling contest!

Snakeeater

Well, if you are looking for a turkey to make some calls I would probably fit in, but if you need folks to make turkey calls I'd just embarass myself.  :)
