When I first got my gamemaster I was hoping to shoot the same cx150's that all my 55# Arroyo's were shooting. Well it turned out that they were way to stiff. I had a few 1916's that I was saving for fluflu's and thought Ide give them a try. Well it turned out that they bare shafted outta my 45# GM perfectly.

My new GM was shooting them so beautifuly that I just purchased 2 dozen more.

Well, My new DAS string came in today, and after stringing her up to the same brace and nock heigth my 1916's are showing very weak.

What gives?

I cant see a string making that much of a differance. But I guess I could be wrong.

The original string on the GM was a flemish, but I dont know the material. I also had cat wiskers and a brass nock. The DAS is a endless loop with bow jaxs and I tied on a floss nock.

hmmmm.... i know that if you go from a dacron or flemish string to a FF string it will usualy change arrow spine in some amount...sometimes alot, sometimes its minimal. i have never changed strings on my gamemaster so i cant speak from experience.

by the way was your gamemaster a heavier weight than it listed on the limb. mine says 50# but pulls 56-57# at 28"

The wierd thing is the cx150's are bare shafting much closer now. In fact, they will probibly be perfect with a heavier tip.

A string change can definitely cause a spine change; and not just changeing from B50 to non-stretch. Number of strands can cause spine change as well.
You can do it deliberately too-often it is easier to go to a higher or lower performing string rather than new arrows.

fastflight has no give and pounds the arrow...so you typically need a stiffer shaft.... Bjorn is very correct on the strand count also..

Yup, string change can make a pretty big difference. I have had bows that had 16 or 18 strand FF strings on them than gone to 10-12 and picked up several fps as well as had to change point weight. Even my Arroyo I had to slow the string some to tune my 150's and addedan extra set of silencers. Shawn

My doctor told me the bow string has caused my spine to be crooked as a snake.(grin)

I think that a 12 strandff string on my 46# widow gives me 5fps more than an 18 strand ff.
I don't think it changed my arrow spine any though....
