My self made d shape longbow

Well, the results have been just about what I expected.  Recurve tops the list with hybrids and longbows about equal.  I wasn't expecting there to be zero selfbow guys.  Ferret must not be around  

Find it, fell it, saw it, stave it, season it, strip it, shape it, string it, shoot it, eat!

I like the feel of the grip, the smooth draw and release and consistancy of a recurve. The recurves of today also are often center cut and can shoot a wide range of spine weights.

Recurves because Papa Bear taught me how.

Thunderstick MOAB, it will be hard to beat.  JMVHO  These bows have the best of both worlds.  I have heard them called "straight limbed recurves".

4....but my go to bow really isn't technically a self bow-it is a sinew backed Owl. My Back -up bow is a true selfbow

"Longbow" and "hybrid" are kinda misleading as both are what most folks consider to be a "longbow" - where the string's loops only touch the limb nocks (as opposed to a recurve).

"Classic IFAA longbows", like the straight limbed Howard Hill longbow, have that classic "D" shape when braced.  Hybrid longbows show a smattering of limb tip reflex when braced.

To confuse matters more, there are "stealth hybrids" (such as the 21st Century Edge and Horne 62" Combo Hunter) that show lotsa reflex when unbraced and a classic "D" shape when braced - make no mistake, these are fast hybrid longbows!
 
Hmmm - if you add up both poll categories (longbow and hybrid), longbows are in the majority (so far!).

I believe that there are now 4 self bow votes. I'm sure there would be more but they are probably either making another one or out looking for more wood. It's as addictive as hunting...,almost.

My Zipper will out-shoot you all... as long as I'm not standing behind it!!!! Great bows though.

I know my handle says Recurve but I've since sold both of my recurve bows and now own a long bow.
