Just got back last night from my lion hunt in Utah. This is the first time I didnt score on an out of state hunt and I cant believe how good I still feel about it.It started out day one with a 3 1/2 mile chase on a biggun until we lost it in a snowless canyon. On day 2 we picked it up again and a 4 mile chase ensued. At the end it was lost when we got hit by a storm at 6000 feet with up to 95 mile an hour winds! My guide Lynard was about 20 yards ahead of me and his tracks got blown over with snow before I could reach him and we had to yell to hear each other at face to face distance. As we couldnt find the dogs after an hour of looking and it was near dark we had to give up the chase and get off the mountain for safety sake.Totally spent I grudgingly left the mountain with frostbitten toes and face minus my digital camera and fleece hunting coat that somehow came untied from my pack somewhere during the chase. The dogs walked into town that night sick and battered but recovering nicely when I left for home.No more fresh tracks were found for the rest of hunt. But even the fruitless hikes which turned up no tracks were filled with sightings of moose,mt. goats, monster bull elk including a huge dead 6 by 6, countess mulies, eagles, chukkars, turkey and yotes. So far it was the trip of a lifetime and Im booked for next year. And so, the oddyssey has just begun.

Great story but, we miss the pictures as much as you do. At least you got to see it in person and we just have to emagine it all.

What an adventure! Being out in storms like that are things you only read about. Better luck next time.
