Mark Holowinski ( Raminshooter) and I went for a little stump shooting today.  We ended up building a shelter, from dead wood that we found, made a small fire, with flint and steel, and had a great hike in the woods of the El Dorado National Forrest.

The frame of the shelter had been put together on a previous trip to this area.  We lashed down the cross members, and gathered pine needles for the roof.

After the work was done, we built a small fire, and had a few snacks.

It was a great day to be in the outdoors.  We were hoping to get a shot at any grey squirrels that might have been scurrying around, but never saw any.

Now that looks like a fun time if I've ever seen one...

That looks like a lot of fun. But how do you stand and walk in those moccasins in the snow? I'd fall down every 30 seconds.   :campfire:

Thanks for the pics.  I love the Sierra's.  I spent a lot of time there as a teen.  New I have a daughter named Sierra after them.

A lot of memories!

These pics confirm my suspicion.  People on this site still like to play in the woods like we did when we were kids.  Building forts etc!!!  Things were simpler then.   :)   Joe

One of my good friends looked at one of my elaborate ground blinds and accused me of "fort building" like we did when we were about 10 years old. I got to thinking about it and had to agree, I liked building forts then and still do at age 60, I call them "ground blinds " now.

Nice Fort, oops, I mean shelter.

Eric took the words out of my mouth.... well, except the age 60 part.  Still love building them, whatever age I am!  Looks like a great time boys!
Tanks for sharing.
