Hey guys!Ive never shot a bow with a quiver mounted on it always used hip and back quivers.I have this great northern strap on that Im thinking of putting on my greatplainsman.Should I put it on now and shoot with it all year or could I wait til say a month before season.Do they change the feel of a bow that much?

It does,at least in my experience,change the feel AND shootability of the bow.

I use a bow quiver,but always take it off in the stand,just don't like shooting with a quiver on...never have,but like bow quivers for transporting my arrows.

Hi varmint!Do you think it takes away from the bows performance?Ive been using a homemade hip quiver the last 5yrs or so,but alot of times its a pain in the neck once I get in my stand and take it off and keep it in easy reach and not drop the whole darn thing.(Ive done that more than once)What kind of quiver do youhave?

They don't change the performance of the bow, but they do change its feel and balance.  I generally put mine on a month or so before season.  For me, the adjustment is minor and has never been a problem.

If you use a slip over the limb guiver.Rubber mount type?? You will want to make sure to push the quiver all the way down passed the fadeouts.A little dish soap will help.Try not to mount the quiver to any working part of the limbs.That can cause some problems....bd

I do have one bow that it does seem to take away from,it's a BBO I made.I just could not shoot it with a quiver on.I was using an EFA 4 arrow.All my other bows it doesn't effect at all,but I just could not find a sweet spot on the limbs for the quiver on this 1 bow.I have two 3 arrow EFA's and a 4 arrow also.Great quivers,but I still take them off when I get to my stand,I just like the feel of a bow without a quiver better than with,and can't get used to back quivers or hip/side quivers.

I use the Salway bolt on and the slip on's I always leave them on. Even shooting in the yard or stump shooting and even 3-D I just dont like hip quivers. But if you put it on a month before season you should not have any problems getting use to it. The only thing about blunts and judo points I have to put them in my quivers upside down but that is no big deal. A month before no problems.

I started hunting with a back quiver,that didnt last to long.I like stump shooting and 3ds with it but cant hunt with it.The same with the hip it was better than the back at first,but i do alot of sneaking around and its just become a hinderance.Plus if needs be i think i could get off a quiker 2nd shot.I think ill like its convenience.

Put it on now. It feels a bit different and you may need to tune your arrows again-try a bareshaft and see.

Great Northern is a great quiver. Put it on and try it for yourself.

the strap on great northerns actually seem to quienten the bow some, I think. But you may need to re tune, some of the heavier quivers like a old delta will change the needed spine, needing a weaker shaft. usually as much as 5lbs on a woody,but the great northerns have the less impact than most. I would put it on now, and shoot all summer with it, 3-d or whatever

I always try and shoot the setup I hunt with so there isn't anything different when the season opens. My TD recurves shoot great with a bolt-on Thunderhorn. I think the added weight helps absorb energy and it seems to sit in the hand more solid.
