We had some crazy winds on this last day of our New York archery season and I didn't go out in the morning. I felt guilty and mad at myself for staying in that morning and decided to go out and give it one last try. Heading to my stand, I could hear a deer take off right near my stand and I'm like "really"!
Anyway, got in the stand and rode the wind. The tree was dancing for a while but the wind did subside and was actually pleasant. The wind was out of the west and ideal for my stand.
Around 4pm, a lone mature doe came into my area just meandering and I just felt a buck would be trailing her or at least I hoped so!
I stood up, grabbed my bow and waited with anticipation.
Minutes later from the same direction the doe came from,
I saw a buck coming. Once I identified he had 3 points on one side, I never looked at his head again. My total focus was on picking a spot.
He came in my lane broadside and the arrow was on its way.

The arrow went right where I was looking and had a complete pass thru with the arrow buried in the dirt behind him.
He took off in a beeline and I heard him go down. I would say he was dead in 10 seconds by the sound of it.

My buddy Carl soon arrived and we got to work.
Great day and a great pleasure to have my close friend and mentor here with me this day.
Last day of our bow season, last hour.

I can't post pics because of this crazy photobucket thing!
