Just a heads-up.  If you need string maker's wax, I'll have it at the TN Classic at the BCY table.  Pouring up at least 20# this evening, in 2 oz. increments.

Chad, does string wax ever get old and need replacing?  I make about 3-4 strings a year, so one 2oz lump is approximately a lifetime supply for me (at my age) if it doesn't get old and need to be replaced from time to time.

Technology....the knack of arranging the world so that we don't have to experience it.

It depends on what is used in it, but mine doesn't spoil.  If a recipe were to have something like vegetable oil in it, could get to smelling funky after a while.

I make my own by melting beeswax with toilet bowl ring wax 50:50 and pouring it into mini cupcake cups. Just the right stickiness and I pretty much have a lifetime supply.

I like to use pine resin I scrape off of trees that are seeping and melt and mix with bees wax 1/3 pine resin, 2/3 bees wax and pour into little cups like they have at McDonald's for the ketchup.  Smells so good and plenty sticky. Just one more DIY project that is easy.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I have had some dry up and get to hard to use. Purchased from a large traditional online store.

I've added neets foot oil to beeswax as a softening agent.  Worked quite well.

Wound up pouring around 27#.  Over 200 2 ounce cups, some 3 ounce cups.  Been using it for 10 years, works pretty well.

I'll be grabbing a stick or two from ya

Jwilliam

Any chance you will be bringing some to Denton Hill?

LBR

I'll sure try to remember--but it wouldn't hurt to remind me when it gets closer
