It did not take long...I had my first experience with a big(ish) game animal. I decided I would jump in both feet and not only hunt turkeys with my recurve, but would try for decapitation and not use a ground blind. Well, I managed to call in a nice longbeard this morning. I attempted to make him pick is head up by clucking but then I chickened out on drawing as he stared at me from 15 yards lol. He would not stop strutting, so I opted for a directly facing toward shot. I chose the space between his beak and wattle as my spot. I somehow drew on him and the arrow was gone. It impacted right next to his wattle on the left side. It hit so solidly that the arrow nock pointed directly up at impact, stopped, and snapped off the tophat. He flopped, stood up...and started fanning again in the weeds. Never got another shot....but man was that exciting!!!

I should clarify...I have killed a lot of turkeys...this was my first stickbow hunt where I encountered game. Needless to say, I sharpened 4 Magnus classics and will be using those tomorrow. If I had been using a 2 blade he would have gotten a free ride in the truck with that shot!
