Has anyone ever found a deer 3d target that
does not deteriorate and become hard and brittle.
I have owned many Mckenzie, most recently
 rhinehart woodland buck, keep it in woodshed when not using it to keep sun off it but try as I may
the body portion not the core seems to dry out and get brittle . Anyone know of a good target that will not break down when exposed to the environment

Our club keeps our Rineharts in a shed when there isn't a shoot and they do not get brittle year after year. These are the more pricier targets than the woodland buck.

Richard is correct, the higher end Rinehart targets are made entirely of the same material as the core of the woodland buck and hold up much better.  If you don't mind a target on the smaller side, the Rinehart Broadhead Buck is a much better target than the woodland buck and takes the same insert.  Sometimes you can even find a factory blemished broadhead buck.

Also, I haven't owned them long enough yet to determine if they get brittle but most of the targets on my backyard course are made by R&W targets and I am extremely happy with them.  They are an excellent alternative to the big 2...especially for stickbows as the arrows can be difficult to pull if shot from a bow with training wheels.

I have owned many targets the rinehart woodland does NOT hold up for what they cost. The higher end ones do but I can't justify 350 bucks for a target. Not when I have had such bad luck with them. Also stay away from the higher end cabelas targets. They're like 229 but are not good either.

Rinehart for sure.  I have one around 15 years old and it's not the least bit brittle and still taking shot after shot.

The best way to prevent UV damage is to paint your targets with flat exterior laytex house paint.  Just use the cheapest paint.

Our  club has all top end  Rineharts and store them in sheds over the winter and keep them out on the range during the season and they do not deteriorate or get brittle.  We also keep replacement target centers and replacement animal targets in the sheds without any issues.  Every thing from the moose, elk to the smallest

My Rinehart targets set outside 6 months a year. I spray them down every few months with 303 Aerospace Protectant and they stay nice and pliable. You can get this at swimming pool and spa places or fle****.

I've had good luck with my Rineheart broadhead buck. Got a blemished one from lancaster archery for about half the cost of factory...I still can't figure out what made it "blemished."

Our local range uses Rineharts and they leave them outside all summer. They have had the same targets now for 3 or 4 years and they are still soft and easy to pull arrows from. In contrast, my Mckenzie deer stays in the shed and is only brought out when I shoot it. I then put it away again so that it isn't in the sun or getting wet. It still has become very hard and brittle and is a pain to pull arrows from.

I also have the Rinehardt broadhead buck and it has held up very well for 2 years.  BUT, it is the size of a fawn - that's my complaint.  It's literally as small, or smaller than your typical yearling doe you see in early fall.

I paint my targets periodically with whatever paint has been returned to the local hardware store.  Just mix a color or two till you have something useful.  This keeps them looking fairly new, despite a bunch of holes.  I also make covers for my targets from tarps to keep the sun off them.  This way I can leave the targets out all summer.  I just remove all the covers before I shoot and replace them as shoot.  I have some VERY old targets!  (No Rhineharts)

R&W 3D targets are very good. They hold up OUTSIDE all winter long. Very good self healing durable foam.
