I am often asked to give advice on where to hunt hogs in Georgia and the answer really is simple- South Georgia.

They are FAR more numerous, easier to access and to be honest, easier to hunt for a number of reasons. Mountain Hogs are TOUGH! Brutal climbs, nomadic and often nearly impossible to pattern and incredibly smart because of the pressure they receive.

Having said that, I absolutely love the challenge of hunting them. Here is a little recovery video of a good boar that I took on a night hunt. I do about 95% of my hog hunting after dark because I love chasing the giants. The big boys really do prowl at night.

On this mountain hunt, there were about 8 hogs under my light and two were considerably bigger than this boar but I wanted the more rare to us, brown one. I have had the monster black hog at ten yards a couple times and let him go. I wont give him a pass again, lol.

A marginal blood trail was made a breeze with a string tracker- something I NEVER hunt without. Especially on the 80 degree nights in March. Thanks to Drifter Traditional Archery for making a really neat one for me.

Enjoy the video.

Good job Jerry!
I'm like you,, if there is a hog of different coloration or something out of the ordinary it's a death sentence on them!!

Dendy I am afraid that if I ever slow down I will figure out I have been dead for a couple years.

Congrats on the pig, Jerry, but you got me really wanting to see a close up of the String Tracker/Light mounting bracket on your bow!!!

How 'bout a pic?

This is not my go to light for hunting big hogs but is a really good set up for a mobile hunter. It is green L.E.D. and has a wide flood to extreme narrow spot out to 200+ yards. It had a rheostat that remembers the last setting which is a big plus.  It is made by predator tactics and is the bow hunters hog model.

I get a ton of questions on our lighting systems.  We have several that we use in various hunting scenarios while guiding hog hunters.  I really need to do a comprehensive video tutorial.
We have evolved some really cool light configurations over the years.  Some are specially designed for hunting old wary hogs that can't be hunted with conventional lights.

I will try and put a video together as soon as possible.
