I'm looking for design ideas for a leather side-draw quiver with a fletching cover for rain/brush.  This is a DIY project.  I've seen a few good ideas so far but nothing has a cover for the feathers to keep out rain & brush.  Any good ideas you all have seen?

Thats a great request I have not seen one other then the Arrow Master, Bow Mate. I have a Arrow Master Duiker model that is a little slimmer and really like it for arrow protection. ONLY down side I can't see my pretty creasting!

Another option is a more regular side quiver, aith a removable hood attached with a cord to the main quiver.

Would be better with a full protection cap, but the design as it is seems as though the feathers should be well protected.

If you're thinking about making one, I will point out a few things I'd do differently if I make another.

1. I started the opening too far up from the base. You need to draw the arrow a bit too far back to get it out.

2. I would make the upper part longer above the shoulder strap so a very lightweight cover could be placed over the fletching.

3. I would make a detachable cover for the body opening - maybe one that could be rolled up and tied/snapped out of the way when not needed.

Otherwise, I like them a lot. I find it can be worn under the arm, or you can swing it up and wear it like a back quiver.

If you need examples, look at Safari Tuff Arrowmaster quiver. I think they have just about all the bases covered.

 

I adore my Palmer Bowmate Elite.  The Safari Tuff is great too, but after using both I prefer the Bowmate.  The tube protects up to full length arrows including the fletched portion, whereas the Safari tuff just has a floppy cover over the fletches which I don't like as much.

I have a Palmer Bow Mate Elite and I like most of what it offers, but I kind of hate having to take the end cover off to put an arrow back in OR shoving the arrow back up into it if I don't take the cover off as it can ruin feathers.  So I tend to use a standard side quiver with no fletching cover since I don't intentionally hunt in rain.

I'm also thinking about making a side quiver and am looking at a Native plains style quiver long enough to basically protect the feathers.

Bladepeek, that is one fine looking work of craftsmanship.  I love that kind of creativity and diligence.  I have never used a side quiver, but I would seriously consider giving it a whirl for that kind of quality!  Just wow!
