Rabbits anyone?

Just wondering if any of you guys have been out after the bunnies? I've been a couple times since the close of deer season. Here's a Adirondack hare:)

Nice job. I have been out while walking the dog but have taken no shots, He tends to scare them off before any sort of shot can be taken so it makes it tough for me with a bow. Hopefully Saturday I will get out with the boys and some beagle dogs and chase em around a bit.. ours here are standard cottontails.

Got one in between elk and deer season. Haven't made it back up again, weather has either been bad or I was working. I don't play around by myself with bad weather at 10,000 plus feet elevation. If I can catch some good weather I'd like to do some snowshoeing to look for snowshoes

Thanks guys. I had just got the new Mohawk a week before. Was able to break it in proper like:)....Nice Old goat2! 10,000 ft wow! That's a long ways up to chase rabbits:)

Growing up on the other side of the state we had swamp rabbits. Wish we had them around here.

Wish I could. That swamp looks inviting. Here it's been rain/sleet and fog. Miserable to be out. Need a fresh snowfall and some sunny days.

I normally do an overnight rabbit hunt with a buddy at his place in Feb. but he found a new lady friend this year and is in love. I feel bad calling him now so I guess I'll just wait to see if he calls. If not, I'm on my own.

I make it out once or twice a winter. It's hard without dogs but still a lot of fun. One day 3 years ago I bagged 2. Have no idea how i hit them but I did lol. Lots of fun

I missed one a couple of weeks ago in Tasmania. During the stalk my heart was racing just like it does hunting buffalo.

The common cottontail, my favorite big game animal. Pneumonia in my right lung took away my bunny knocking aspirations for a month. I am getting better, maybe next month.

N. VT hare season is open through end of March. Hope to get up there a few times to give it a try.

Those that have taken hare what do you use for a head?

nek4me...I use both blunts and broadheads. Usually if I'm going after them with a bow I don't take my beagle so the broadheads get used more than the blunts. They just seem to work better for me.

I do the same, I like broadheads better but don't like passthroughs and messing up my feathers on rabbits so I like to shoot broadheads on close shots where I'm shooting down at a sharp angle and the ground will stop a complete passthrough. And then blunts for more level shots.

Blunts /hexheads/judos for my bunnies and pink shafts and fletchings for ease of finding misses=lists of misses.

It is the most fun one can have on post big game days

I use a mix of nutters, hexheads, and blunts. Some of the blunts are 380 or 38 casings. All do the job.
