The peppermint is a nice touch. Thanks Kustom King! My grandson got that though, lol!

First impressions:

Very well made. Glue lines are tight, and wood looks nice. A few pores aren't completely filled, but it takes close inspection to find them. The finish is matte...almost feels gritty at first. I like it...no glare and positive grip.

The grip is a little bigger than I would have hoped, but not uncomfortably so. I seem to have no trouble getting a consistent grip, although I have to admit at 2 degrees, I didn't spend a lot of time shooting today.

This little bugger is going to be hard on arrows I'm afraid.

I know it's hard to tell, but there are two arrows in that hole! Unfortunately the second one took the cock feather off of the first.       These shots were at 15 yards. It grouped pretty much like this at 20 as well. By then I couldn't feel my fingers anymore, so I had to give it up for today.

I just had a few mismatched arrows here. Most of them are at the cabin, so I'm sure the spine was way off, but the bow didn't seem to mind.

The bow is pretty quiet even without silencers. I added a couple cat whiskers and it just has a nice thump. Hand shock is non-existent. Speed seems to be very good for a 45# bow. Once I get some arrows matched to it and get to the cabin, I'll run it through the chrono to see just what it does. Seems like it will be plenty fast enough to do the job for me.

I've owned more bows than I'd like to admit...especially if my wife is listening...and this one won't take a back seat to any of them. The fit is excellent. The finish isn't shiny, but I like that. I look forward to warmer weather so I can really wring her out.

Nice looking bow Russ! I wondered what had become of you; have fun slinging arrows, and let's hope this weather changes soon!

Appears you are planning to make short work of some specific quarry.

Congrats!

Looks like a nice bow with clean lines.  I love these threads but also hate them... I start feeling the bow bug myself  :)

Thanks, Bernie! I spent the summer and fall down at my cabin near Bellevue. I've been way too busy to get on here much, although I've "lurked" a time or two. We put up and modular home last fall (2015), and I worked on the basement up until October of this year when my son and I had the Amish put up a 34'x 64' pole shed. The west 24' is cemented out for our workshop, which I've spent plenty of time working on as well.

Of course, I did manage to get in some hunting along the way...not nearly as much as I would have liked, naturally.

Now I'm back at Manly and back to subbing...got to pay for the new shop you know. I'm going down this weekend to play with the new bow and hopefully get in some hunting with it as well. The way it spits an arrow, I don't think I'll be far off with the setup I've been using with my longbow, so tuning shouldn't take too long. If the deer don't cooperate, I think there's a turkey waiting for the Kiowa this spring!

Right now Kustom King is closing out this model at $346! I think it is a steal! From what I read on another site, Bodnik can't keep up with the demand for the Kiowa, so they are selling them as a semi-custom now...with an 8-10 week backlog. No stock Kiowas once these are sold. Sure glad I got my hands on this one before that happened!

Yeah, at this point I'm thinking I'll be shooting this one until either the warranty expires or I do!    :archer2:

Very nice lookin' bow. Hope that you enjoy it.

Good looking bow but at 52" that can't have been a long white box.  The first Kodiak Magnum that I bought, when it came in, the box was so short that I wondered if they had cut it in two.  I thought that the box was too short to have a bow in it.

Enjoy your new toy!

I said "longish" a word I needed as I wasn't sure how else to describe it, lol. Kustom King puts plenty of packing in the ends though, so it was rather longer than I expected.   :bigsmyl:

30, what is your DL with the bow? I see Bearpaw says it will take up to a 30" draw length, with no stacking.
