has anyone ever tried soaking sinew in peroxide? I soak wingbones in it and they turn snow white. Was wondering if you could do the same with real sinew without damaging it? I was going to use it to wrap some wingbone calls and wanted to know if anyone had tried it.

No,I have not tried it. ...but peroxide or sodium hypoclorite both "bleach' because work as oxidizing agents. Oxidizing most anything results in some weakening. That may not matter on a wingbone call...but why would you want a call to be bright white?

Might make it taste funny when you go to chew it to soften.

It'll break down the proteins in the sinew & weaken it considerably, at best. Worst case, it'll dissolve!

probably give you some really nice white chompers, lol

I guess we always bleach the bones cause they look purdy. Never had a problem with em being white.

Thanks for the info, guys. I reckon I'll just leave the sinew "el naturel"!
