I don't start many threads here, but thought it might be interesting to see some of the arrows we're building and shooting of late. I still build 100% of my arrows and have done so since the '80s.

For 2016 I p-p-put down the carbon and started with Surewood fir shafting. Stain and paint applied....

Finished arrows awaiting a set of heavy broadheads.

On the hunt...

The ultimate satisfaction of building arrows.

And now it is your turn....

Wow!  Maybe my next step in trad will be toward more traditional arrows. Those are some beauties.

Love, love, LOVE building arrows.....as the buckets of them in the garage will attest.

Few from earlier this year:

And a few from yesterday that will make the trip to Wild Things in Estill SC with me next week:

I made up this batch of flamed and stained Surewood Doug Fir arrows  last year but they have taken 3 does this year.  I've never shot so consistently as I have since shooting woodies... just feels right.

Fantastic arrows Kevin. I really like the color scheme and by the way, you need to share more. We all like to live through your experience and great adventures.

I have always made my own aluminum and carbon arrows also until the beginning of this year when David Lawson made me a set of woodies and all my fears of using wood arrows has been put to rest. They are still perfectly straight other than one that broke in a deer.  They fly great and have added some weight to my short shafts.

I make a new set every year.  Have killed dear with POC, hop hornbeam, birch, and Douglas fir.  Here is a picture with last years set that traveled to CO and MT with me this past year...

Made my first set of woodies this year - these were a surprise for my 8 year old son.  Unfortunately they were too stiff, but ended up shooting great out of my wife's bow.

These I made for a new long bow I got - did all the feather processing myself.

The other set I made this year were all pink using the pink bright stripes Trueflight feathers - they turned out really cool.  I'll see if I can get pics of those too.
