this is driven off another topic my first custom bow i ever ordered was my wida psa and its the smoothest drawing bow ive ever had .. i actually get rid of bows if they dont feel just as good as my psa on the draw ive always been curious about a silvertip do they stack up to widows in the draw department any and all input welcome and appreciated

Well you already have a Widow... I would buy a used Silvertip and see what you think. You'll never have a problem getting rid of it if you don;t like it!

BTW I absolutely love my 3 piece Silvertip Longbow!

They surpass any widow in the draw department, a tad slower maybe?

If you are looking at a Schafer I'd give a TallTines a hard look too, they are very comparable and a bit faster

Schafers are exceptional and Widows and Tall Tines as well...why not consider skipping em all and trying the new Blacktail Sitka?  Lol.  They are most excellent.

If you want performance, smooth draw and good looks all at a more reasonable price I would buy a Stalker by South Cox. I have had several Widows and a Silvertip and a Stalker Coyote.......I still have the Stalker.

I can't give an opinion on the Silvertip, although they have a great rep and following.  I've shot a lot of bows over the past several years, and in my opinion, my 2 Widows equal or surpass them all in the draw and smoothness department.  I couldn't be more pleased with Black Widow Bows.

For not being wrong I have them all and I am an happy camper  

I have owned the above listed bows and for me the Silvertip rules. I don't know where in KY your located but I have a Tip and TT you are welcome to shoot.  We also have a public archery range in Frankfort.

+2 on the Stalker...they are simply works of art that shoot with authority!

My personal experience has been good with each of the three.

Your personal experience may likely differ.

If I perceived a personally noticeable grip accommodation difference, then the choice would be evident.

I'd be all over this generous offer if I were trying to make this kind of expensive decision.

I have had PSA,PMA, and currently have two PCH widows. They are smooth and darn near indestructible.
I have had 60,62,and 64" schafer three piece take down recurves and three piece longbows.
I currently have a 62",64" recurve and a 64" longbow.
I am telling you this because I obviously like them both, but...........
If I had to choose between the two, my vote is for the Schafer. It draws really smooth, with an excellent grip. Hard to beat the fit and finish too. Customer service is also great.

I've got two Silvertips and love them both to death!  I've shot Widows and for whatever reason, they didn't blow my skirt up.  To my eye, the Silvertip is more aesthetically pleasing.  The Widow doesn't flow like the Tip, and with all the laminations in the riser, it can get a bit busy.

The Silvertip has the reputation for being a heavy bow.  So, on my latest Tip, I had Dave build a 60" bow on the 15" riser.  That longer working limb makes for a smooth drawing bow, and there is still enough mass in the riser to make it stable in the hand.

I don't think I'd worry too much if one shoots 5fps faster than the other...
