shooting over a rail

well i have been spending alot of time in a climber this year love being able to move without alot of fuss. Each time i hunt at some point during my sit I will stand and draw my bow as if too shoot , and I have got to tell you it is a challenge to draw a 60" recurve over a rail without the bottom limb coming in contact with some part of the summit climber. I practice with a vertical bow, but cannot use in a climber with a rail without a serious cant
and if deer is under you or even very close forget it ? Any ideas

I set my Summit Viper so the seat is very low. I have fairly short legs and that helps. This puts the rail pretty low when I stand. Other than getting the open shot model (no rail) or a different stand, that's the only solution I've found.

I also set the stand where I think a shot is most likely to be to my left (I'm right handed). That allows me to lean out and provides the most clearance from the stand.

Of course, deer don't always do what you think they will.

I just got in the climber game this season, I bought a sit and climb, after five days in the field it's going on the chopping block, ordered a LW Hand Climber, two day shipping,usps just delivered on a Sunday, can you believe it? No rails in the way

I had an open faced Summit and I put a rail on it to help with climbing... that being said, I shoot a 66" longbow and my rail is quite close to the seat and it doesn't cause any problems.

Now my Summit is the older Bushmaster model and doesn't have a rail, but I have an idea about that. Try bringing the rail up and putting your body in contact with it when you shoot. This might let your bow be outside the rail completely and eliminate interference. Just an idea I heard from another guy.

I had used a Summit climber for years when compound bow hunting. All it took was a single morning hunt with it my first time with the longbow, and I had it in the classifieds 30minutes after legal shooting light. Had a lonewolf handclimber in the mail shortly after, and have never looked back.

Get online and buy a Hazmore mesh seat for your Summit climber and install it tight. This will allow you to put the top section closer to the bottom section of your climber and still be comfortable when sitting. I had the same issues with my API climber and my sons Summit. We no longer have issues with our lower limbs hitting the stand.

Do this ^^^. Makes a big difference. I still use the reg. seat which is awkward with my long legs, but having the seat at it's highest point, then moving the top section down to knee height or below works well as far as not hitting bottom limb on rail. For me, the rail is more in the way of my legs instead.

Another thing. This will work for alot of shots. Stand away from the rail and keep the bow INSIDE of the rail for steeper shots while standing. That eliminates the problem of drawing a limb or string into the rail.

And when I am using a climber, I usually try to stand for the first and last hour of hunting light. I drop the seat so not is just barely above the platform. Heck, I have already spun it around to the other side of the tree.

Climbers with a rail suck! if I was going to buy or hunt from a climber, it would be a hand climber!

With Bisch, Haven't used a climber since the old "Baker" and that dates me, but any type rail on a tree stand, even a ladder stand is worthless.

Just got my LW Hand Climber last night, looks like it's going to be the cats meow! Much more usable platform than my sit and climb and no rails
